Why did Egnater lose the FX loop on the M4

I've seen older M4s that have the FX loops on them and also the wet/dry control for the parallel loop
I just wondered why they disposed of that on the newer M4s
I assume the change came when they made the switch to a dual channel module version of the M4
I just wondered why the loops had to go

IIRC, Bruce said the M4 sounded better without the FX loop. Plus, most guys using an M4 would simply insert the FX device of their choice (Axe-FX, TC, Eventide, Rocktron, etc) in between the M4 and their power amp, so in effect the M4 output becomes the FX send and the power amp input is the FX return.

Thankyou for the answer - knew there was a tone issue at the centre of it.
I will have to compare my Egnater M4 back to back with my Randall RM4

I have an Egnater single channel M4, a Randall RM4 and an Egnater Dual M4 (no fx loops).

I use the pre-loop outs on both the M4 single and RM4.

The two single channels sound almost identical..I put the difference in output down to the tubes that are in the chassis but I've been too lazy to do a swap and test. :D

I think the sound from the Dual M4 is a little 'clearer' haven't really thought about noise floor, since I play with lots of gain and a gate, but I guess that could be better too..

I guess the only downside is that you then only have 1 "loop", which is serial right? You could make it parallel by sticking something like Suhr MiniMix in there I think, but youd still only have 1 loop.

I've thought about grabbing a mini-mix for my mod50 rig...but i'm like..nah ...don't need it at this point.

Thanks,
Eric

Why not think simple, anyway? Like I've said, guitar players tend to complexify when maybe it isn't always the best way to go. Heck, my Eggie sounds so good I have taken to not always plugging in my effects. You know what? I am not missing them so far.

:D
