When I was prime age (18-22) my tone & vibrato sucked. 20 years later, still working on the vibrato
Also like sleeping in a nice bed at night, as opposed to the money draining van tour with 4 people I couldn't tolerate longer than practice times
Harsh Bottom line: not good enough + lack the necessary sacrifices
The other reason I didn't make it is I hooked up with one of those plaster caster groupies and she said I probably should have been a member of The Go Go's or The Bangles. What do you think she meant by that?
I never had aspirations of making it big; I just wanted to gig and have fun. I never did find that right group of guys to gel with before the job/kids removed the option.
I could write it off as I was just a dick. But really it was just not enough production, ambition or drive...just fucking lazy. But a dumb fuck asshole too. not a great combo.
well...considering Rigtalk has never heard a clip from me..well....there could be a connection as to why you haven't heard a clip from me and why I didn't make it big...lol.
actually...two or three folks here have heard a clip or two from me personally...I think they keep those clips around when they need a good laugh
Started doing small regional tours for a couple weeks at a time and found out I HATE traveling. I also found out I car sickness which didn't help the cause. I have no idea if it would have worked out anyway but the travel killed it for me to even attempt it as a career.
Lost interest because of where the hard rock scene was headed. Got tired of dealing with flakes. Didn't have a unique vision that I thought could succeed at the time. Thought band managers were blood sucking leeches. Didn't want to end up a starving musician. Realized "making it" had a lot to do with luck too and didn't want to rely on that...
No stage presence. General stage fright, I get the jitters and my fingers become stiff as Lincoln Logs. I can't stay on beat with even the most solid drummer- can't even identify with it. If I screw up, I have a hard time moving on. It's a piss poor sight, fellas.
