Why so much spam?

I have my rigtalk bookmarked on “active topics” in order to always see the latest conversations. But increasingly, the active conversations are spam - dozens of posts in a row about shoes, or dozens of posts in a row about Russian dating, etc., etc., etc. Practically every morning there’s a new batch of garbage. Seems like they’re mostly coming from the classifieds section?

Why/how is this happening so frequently here? This was a problem most boards/communities solved a decade ago. Not solving this drives people away, makes this community feel like it’s been abandoned and is going out of business.

Danno must've started it off. I asked the powers that be to give us all access to the admin panel but for some reason they only did it for my profile. It gives me the ability to delete all the posts from a user with one click. Dan would've spent a good 3 days trying to clean that shit up. He put a good dent in it though!
