In 2010, I purchased a new AxeFX Ultra because of Mark Day's videos, and my favorite patches were slight variations on the ones he'd created and posted to AxeChange.

In early 2013, I purchased a new AxeFX II because of Mark Day's videos, and again, all of my favorite patches were slight variations on the ones he'd created.

In April 2013, Firmware 10 was released and effectively boned Mark Day's AxeFX II patches (at least for me as a power amp and cab player), specifically his buit-in HBE patch, his Photograph patch, and his Hurricane solo patch.

THESE WERE MY FAVORITE PATCHES AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REBUILD THEM!!!

Dear Mark, if you read this and you find yourself with a few minutes to spare, would you mind adapting or recreating your AxeFX II patches for Firmware 10? :-)

The Periphery patches are great, but what I need - nay, what the WORLD needs - are your patches. Your patches are more important than any "celebrity" patches could ever be because, with some tweaks, your tone is my tone, and in firmware 10, OUR tone has been obliterated! Please fix/tweak/rebuild your patches and save the day!

Many thanks in advance,

-Greg

Um. That was kind of creepy.....

I agree. But if you substitute "Eddie Van Halen" for "Mark Day" in the above post, it reads like 90% of the threads on gear forums. :D

I thought you could save patches to be unaltered by updates now? Thought I read that somewhere.

Dude likes Mark's patches. Who doesn't. :)

LIKES? :D
I don't just love those patches, I'm in love with those patches. ;-)

I can stick with the previous firmware in order to use them, but Axe Edit only works with the new firmware, and I need that, so I figured I'd make a public spectacle of myself in the name of getting "my" tone back.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

This is essentially why I gave up on the Axe FX Ultra and later the II. Every update f*cked with those favorite patches like Mark's. Dialing them back in after every update just became too much of a PITA. I spent more time reprogramming it than I did actually playing. I went back to serial amp flipping. At least now I'm able to dial it in for a while, play some, then decide I'm not happy with it. :D

Don't know why it's so hard to update his patches. Mark uses the Friedman HBE + Scumback H75 cab in every single one of his videos & patches.

The effects in his patches you would keep exactly the same as before(they haven't changed). Only the drive pedals based on the tube screamer have been updated, so that's simple enough to dial in if you use one.

The amp models have been updated but they are bonehead simple to dial in with just the basics tone knobs.

You say you adjust his patches to your taste, so I can't imagine what problem you could be having getting the V10 HBE dialed in.

When it comes to the Mark Day sound, when in doubt just add gain!!! lol
