I sent a 2210 to Wilder amps and go0t it back a little while ago. It is a monstrously good sounding amp. He did a extra fayt sounding gain channel, a clean channel that is really nice, and a solo boost, he wil;l do this to the 1 channel jcm800's also. Anyhow he added a reasonance control to the gain channel and a globsal contoiur, and I can dial in so many good fat tones, or thick and warm blues tones. I have owned a lot of high end amps, and out of all those amps, I would have to say one of the Camerons I pownhed is the only one to compare to this one and the Caneron I had that was a cut above all the others was a 50watt jcm800 with 6550's and the 2210 I had him mod is a 100watt with 6550's, winged c's and it just kills everything in its path, articulate, yet with total definition and clarity, it is especially good for early EVh, Lynch, DeMartini, but you can crank the reasonance control and dial in huge modern rock and metal tones, this thing does it all and it rules. The workj done at Wilder is quality, I will try and get a cameroa and take pics, i sent it in with a pcv board and got it back hand wired and it looks great!! Great prices also cause he is trying to get his name out there.
Get something donew before a line starts to form that is too long to wauit for!!

GONNA TRY AND GET CLIPS UP ASAP, THIS THING SMOKES!!! THE WAIT WAS ABOUT 2 WEEKS BUT I LIVE SOMEWHAT CLOSE AND DRIOPPED IT OFF AND PICKED IT UP SAVING TIME!!

I didnt know anyone would mod a 2205/2210. I know Voodooo doesnt and I dont beleive Fortin does either(?).

The Super Lead sounds incredible!! The 1st clip is good too but the 2nd just sounds awesome!!!! Where are you located?

Since Mike hasn't chimed back in in a bit I figured I'd come on and shed some light on the subject.

The Wilder Dual Classic mod is a pretty involved mod. Basically the stock PCB gets replaced by a new P2P board because the PCB trace layout doesn't allow for my circuit to be installed on it. But the new board also comes with all new Sozo coupling caps. I HAVE done it via just adding a small board to host the relays/extra components on the PCB 2203/2204s but I've found it much easier to just do a whole new board for those as well since doing a new board allows me to locate the relays closer to the parts of the circuit that they switch in/out.

This mod can be performed on pretty much all of the JCM800 series as well as the 100 watt plexi/JMP style amps. Can't do it on the 50 watt plexi/JMPs as they use the short chassis and there's not enough real estate to fit everything in them.

The mod makes the amp into a two channel amp with a shared EQ, tonally transparent SDM Zero Loss FX Loop along with a footswitchable solo boost. When on the clean channel, it makes the amp into a bone stock 1987/1959 Lead/Super Lead. On the overdrive channel it makes it into a hot rodded to the hilt 2203/2204.

Since Mike hasn't posted up any clips, here's a clip of a JCM800 2204 I just completed -

And here's a clip that was played by the customer of his '72 Super Lead that we prototyped this mod in -

No "studio tricks" were done on the first recording (my customer played the Eruption clip, then swamped it with plate reverb after the recording just like it was done on the original). They're recorded onto my PC via a SM-57 ran straight into my M-Audio Delta1010-LT sound card. All effects you hear were the plate reverb from my Zoom Studio 1204 installed in the amp's FX loop and were recorded from the amp itself...not added later. This means that if you have a decent effects unit that has a good plate reverb installed in the loop yours will sound exactly like the recording.

I can also build this amp complete from scratch as well. We call it the Dual Classic model.

cool, I'm digging the 1st one! One of my favorite modded Marshall clips I've heard

How much is the mod ? I'd be interested. Can it have non-shared eq for the clean ?

I've played through quite a few 2210's and 2205's at local rehearsal studios over the past 20 years, and I was blown away every time! Yeah, the clean channels can sometimes sound lame, and the distortion channels can be a little fizzy or thin on some of them. But despite the shortcomings, they were still f#@%king awesome amps! I especially like the way this amp "plays around you". At 5 feet away, it just envelopes you with a warm, rich sound. At 15 feet away, it's like getting assaulted with a wrecking ball!!! Perfect for a big stage. Take note that I don't play "metal" except for the occasional Sabbath tune, and "scooped" is a word for kids. But if you love mids and harmonic feedback a la David Gilmour or Frank Zappa, then this your amp because the distortion channel absolutely screeeeeams!!! Not only that, once I plugged a Pink Paisley Tele into a 100 watter and with the reverb on, it sounded exactly like the first Zeppelin album!!! No Tone-Bender needed! I'm proud to say that I just bought my first one, an '89 with a tan grill. I nabbed it on eBay for $1000. I've heard that the '89 was the best circuit for these, mainly that the distortion channel sounds thicker than previous years. But to my delight, the clean channel is also very usable with plenty of brilliance on tap. My only complaint is that the reverb sounds kind of "cluttered". But I just got it, it's old and I'm sure it needs a once over and some new tubes.

As far as "mods" are concerned, hold up dudes! First thing's first... Providing that your caps and tubes are healthy and all is well, the first step is to find the right speakers and type of cabinet that gets you as close to your desired tone as possible. Next, you can think about changing the power tubes if you're not happy with the overall character and headroom. Lastly, you can play around with swapping out the preamp tubes and fine tune it to your taste. But you must have the schematic handy for the particular year/model that you have so you know what tube does what. With the late model, it's a tricky balancing act because each tube serves a dual-function for each channel.

Ah ha! Now we can talk about "mods" if you really think you need it. The most common complaint about these amps is a lame sounding clean channel, the "early models" are known to have a bleed through problem between the channels, and the diode distortion can sometimes sound fizzy. There are so many mods to remedy these problems out there, you will have to do your research. But let me begin this discussion with what I might want to change on my own "late-model". Both channels are fed to a master volume but I don't use it. I keep it on 10 and used the channel volumes so that the preamp hits the power tubes as hard as possible to drive the EL-34's into some compression. But cranking the channel volumes too high doesn't produce a usable clipping, it just sounds mucky. I heard one dude removed the master volume from the clean channel and it sounded more open and lively, and LOUDER, but it broke up sooner. I am considering removing it completely and maybe convert it to a solo boost or something. Okay, let the discussions commence... More mods please!!!

Like Mark Cameron, Wilder is a douche, dishonest and can't be trusted.

Hmm clips not working and wilder post is gone?

Was curious to hear.

Doesn't that guy owe a Bunch of people money? Forum members here that he has ripped off?

Yep. He owes two people here refunds or a foot switch and he owes another guy his amp...that Wilder has held for TWO years. He also owes a guy for a custom transformer he purchased but then cancelled the transaction with his credit card company. Left the seller high & dry.

Perfect example of how forum hype leads to people getting ripped off.

Notice the OP was local and knew where Wilder lived for drop off/pickup, but then people outside of the area got shafted.

I seem to remember someone talking this guys mods up a few years ago and then we found out what a scumbag he is with ripping people off.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF 2210'S POST. IT GOES ON AND ON ABOUT AND AMP YOU CANT HAVE. why did he look for an old post regarding wilder. why not a new one. I smell something.
