I went to Appleton in June 2014 for work. They were telling me it hit -40 several times the previous winter and Lake Winnebago still had couch size chunks of ice in it in May.

That's a nice area.. Odd thing about Winnebago, it is very shallow. Deepest part is only around 20'

I enjoyed working and visiting up there. Though it seemed to be a double edged sword with the weather. It finally warmed up, but it seemed like tornados were a every other night thing. I’d turn on the local news at the hotel in the morning while getting ready. It was wild. Madison, Osh Kosh and other cities I forget the names of we’re getting wrecked.

Great people and food. I brought home a bunch of cheese curds and other cheeses from Simon’s.
