The wiring thread made me realize that I still have a ton of stuff here that I never used, however, I can't remember how to wire this stuff up. I get the actual principle, but when I look at the canare I don't see what I am supposed to do. I see their breakdown of the wire on their website but still don't get it. When I watch tutorials with other wire it always looks different. Can someone that uses this stuff post a pic or video of how this is done? It would be much appreciated.

I've got to wire up some Canare's tomorrow. I'll try to take some pics.

Sweet. That would be awesome. I am terrible at soldering to begin with, so add in the extra confusion and you get this   . I am aiming for this  You should have seen me install an Aldrich in my Les Paul...I was like where is that smoke coming from...probably should stop touching the wood...

From Neutrik: http://www.neutrik.com/us/en/audio/210_ ... etail.aspx

Assembly instructions are on the right. Cable shielding gets twisted and soldered to the inside "cup" of the connector (sorry, don't know technical name), the conducting wire of the cable gets soldered to the center of the connector.

Having done this a few times the things that I have learned so far are:
1) Make sure the solder iron isn't too hot; if it is too hot then it can cause melting of the insulation, possibly causing a short that can be difficult to detect (until you plug the cable in and realize that it is kakked of course!)
2) Too help with item 1), I bought a clip-on heatsink from the electronic store

I put the sink between the spot I'm soldering and the part I don't want to overheat. A little alligator clip or some old hemostats work great.

Am I crazy or is the Neutrik bushing too small for the canare?

um...nevermind   faked me out with the tiny hole.

Thanks for the help guys. I now just need to get a real soldering iron with a tip that can handle this and one of this things that can hold the stuff for me. My tip is too big and I can't heat anything up. I see how to do it though.
