I just purchased an American Richie Sambora Kramer. I have 2 others, thought they were lonely
The guy I got it from had it for 16 years and when I inspected the wiring, it looks stock. Does anyone know they are supposed to be wired?
The 2 I have have a 5 way pickup selector the goes bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, and neck.
One mini toggle disconnects the volume so you can quickly toggle feedback on and off ala Van halen or Ace. The other mini toggle coil taps the bridge and middle pickups.
The new guitar's pickup selector is backwards (sort of) neck on bottom, bridge on top. I can't get a real good bridge pickup sound, it seems somewhat muddy and out of phase. The neck pickup is a little muddier and out of phase. The mini toggles seem to either change phase or coil tap, it is hard to tell. The guitar has stock Seymour duncan JBs in bridge and middle.
If I can't figure it out I'll just rip out the bridge and middle pickups and replace them with a seymour Duncan screamin demon trembucker in the bridge, and a 59 in the middle ( I did this in my other 2 and like it) and get the toggles working like my other 2.
