How well can the Kemper create and perform tone LIVE!! Say into a Matrix GT1000FX and out to a 4x12 cabinet. No FRFR, no cab sims, just the kemper profiles thru poweramp into real cab and then mic'd for the front of house?? I have no doubts it sounds great thru interface and into frfr's.. .as does the axe-fx.. but can it hold up to say a high gain head in a live setting?? And being that, is there any latency with profile switching or power issues.. heard a few say that they had a few powering down problems during live use but I believe those issues were ironed out with newer models. Cheers

Sounds great like that. I had a band rehearsal the other night, other guitarist plugged into my Bogner XTC halfstack, I plugged into the kemper and a Rocktron velocity into a marshall cab. It sounded great.

No issues with latency or power issues here. Biggest gripe people have about the kemper and power is that it used to take over a minute to restart if power was interrupted - it's down to around 30 seconds or so. Still a long time if you're onstage, but I play mostly small clubs and have gigged with mine 2-5 times a month since february including outdoor gigs and sketchy club power - kemper never reset.

The kemper can be backed up to a flash drive, and you can use that flash drive directly to restore the kemper. If someone was worried about the system getting corrupt, you can velcro one to the inside of your kemper. Takes less than 5 minutes to do a restore. Again, I've never had an issue like that, but at least you don't need a freaking PC to back up your device. :)

I use mine with a Matrix GT800FX and it sounds fantastic. I think it does metal tones amazingly well through this type of setup. Here is a clip I did with a Mark series profile throgh my Matrix and Bgoner cab. The position of the mic didn't pickup the tight low end like I hear and feel in the room.

Kemper sounds Absolutely insane live this way. Only reason i don't do it is because your profiles sound much more generic this way, due to running through the same cabinet and same Poweramp. The cabdriver feature has addressed this though...

What's with all the talk about startup time still??? Do you guys not wait a mimute before flicking your standby up on a tube amp, or am I missing something here???

I think it does fine. Kemper played through VHT 2\90\2 and Mesa 412 and Old Randall 412. Excuse the shity playing. With the right power amp it will move a shit load of air. This was recorded with a zoom recorder.

Before playing the Kemper do you guys take the Blue Pill or the Red Pill?

I prefer vapor from the sweet leaf. :D

I don't get it. The Kemper profiles an amp by recording the tone from the real amp through a speaker cab. Wouldn't running it into a power amp and into a cab sound weird since it has no way of defeating the cab tone that it was profiled with?
I guess I'm more familiar with modelers than profilers.

This had got to the new punch line with kemper: " I don't get it" :D lol, there must be 30 posts that start out this way....

It sounds great, try not to analyze it too much. It's not that simple, it doesn't sound weird, it sounds like a normal amp in the room when playing with power amp/cab.

That sounds really good, playing ain't bad either ;)

Does anyone know if he is using monitors, power amp/cab, doesn't say?

Yours is one of the better threw a power amp and cab ive heard, 2/90/2 makes anything sound massive though...lol

Where about in Tx. are you, might have to take a road trip and try yours out if you'd be down...

I know that you can turn the cab off, but I am mystified by how that works :D

This thread has always been my worry about the Kemper as well. Sounds like they have done it somehow though :)

Can you mix/match cabs with amps independently in the Kemper? Say, take the cab from profile A and use it with the amp from profile B?

Yes, pretty cool. You can play a profile, go to cab section, assign "auto load ", and you can scroll between hundreds of cabinets ( however many you have) in real time while playing that same profile,to quickly see what cabs you like with it. Really like how upfront and bold your favorite cab is or how rich and creamy your favorite vintage cab is? "lock" it, and scroll through 700 profiles of your favorite amp with that cab... Very easy, and pretty cool. It's easy to get lost in this thing, or make it as simple as a normal amp, all up to you.

If you want the full effect of the profiling, but that real LIVE cab deal, I'd use the Matrix and a neutral cab. Atomic is making these now, but there are others.
