I think I have seen him play this on his youtube channel. There is also a killer MCii on Reverb owned by a producer named Kato Khandwala. He died and his gear is being sold on Reverb.

When the Wizards MCII e MTL were updated and be more bedroom volume friendly?
I can't find this information.

I couldn't tell you when these models were updated, but I can say that the 2017 MCII I have is the most bedroom friendly amp I've ever owned. The amp still sounds like a cranked power section even at bedroom levels.

That said, I'm stupid enough that I don't play at bedroom volumes but instead crank it to the point of hearing damage  It's just too addicting not to

I think my MCII el34 is a 2015 and my MCII KT88 was just built earlier this month. Both have the same loudness when I set the volume knobs equally. It can sound OK at lower volumes, but it really needs to be turned up some to sound best. If you are only playing bedroom volumes, you shouldn't buy a Wizard - get a Kemper/Axe FX/Helix instead.

Amen brother.
Loud n proud. My MTL just gives up the goods at any volume.
We should nick name them "POTN" (piss off the neighbors.)

See I respectfully disagree with this. I agree it sounds WAY better cranked up of course, just like every other tube amp, but IMHO the MCII is the best bedroom tone I've heard/felt compared to many other high end tube amps. Still sounds thick, deep, punchy, tight, angry, articulate, and like it's gonna come apart at the seams even at reasonable, "bedroom", volumes. It would just be a really expensive bedroom tone

I think if a guy has the coin, a Wizard is one of the best bedroom tones out there; from what I've tried at least; and if your into the Wizard tone of course. You are probably right though regarding the Kemper/Axe FX/Helix for the majority; that would make much more sense financially and offer endless tone possibilities. Too many for a tweaker like me

You know what that Wizard thump is all about brother    I don't know how these amps do it, but they do give up the goods at any volume. mhenson42's right though, when you get em cooking, it's just stupid fun and where they truly make the $$$ spent totally worth it

Totally agree. I have a 2010 MCI which has been updated, I believe that update entailed quiet channel switching and a bright knob to make the lead channel as bright as the clean. As far as bedroom volume, like Mike's amp mine has a spot that sounds like a pushed power section, at a very low volume. I play every morning in the bedroom next to where my son sleeps and I've never bothered him with volume. Of course it's a beast at 2 or above but that low volume spot on the master is uncanny.

There's a spot on the dial where it just opens up and just rips. Below that, you can play it and it sounds decent, but nothing like with some volume, IMO. Let's call it loud room volume. Nothing that's going to hurt your ears standing in front of the cab. For me that's somewhere between 2-3 on the dial I think. At 4, it's really loud and sounds awesome. If you play it at lower volumes, I find using a boost out front helps a lot too. That's really only when I use an external boost on the amp.

I agree this

Also, these amps at 4 are like a fucking roller coaster ride at an amusement park

-WIZARDS are the epitome & gold standard of the term ---VOLUME JUMP--- i tried talking to Rick about fixxin it.... well,. that wasnt a good idea... seems to be one of Ricks sore spots... i was then given a stern talkin to about the very thing that makes people love that "WIZARD TONE" cant be done without volume... then he pointed out that WIZARDS ARE PROFESSIONAL GRADE
and designed to run from the 12 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position non stop and he never had any complaints until he started selling to the public.....

i called him "SIR" makong sure that i didnt look him directly in the eye.... i thanked him for his time & the best amp in the world....

-my WIZARD MC 1-(updated to a MC 2 by Rick)- then modded by Mark Cameron with a voice & mix control controls in the power section & then a loop & some attentuation!!..
i'd take this amp over any amp ever made...
and like all of my gear & everything else its for sale $6000...
