Wizard Metal?

Who's got or heard one of these? What can you tell me about it?

Cyndicate has one. It lived with me for a few weeks. Killer definition, and clarity. Made every amp I had at the house sound small. Loud as hell!

Can you tell me about the voicing? Is it Marshall-like, Mesa-like? Do you know if it records well? How is it at low volumes?

To categorize it I guess it's more modded Marshall-like without too much saturation or hair around the notes. It's loud as fuck and can't do low volumes that well. I tried it with a UA and just dont like it with it so I've been running it with a Hotplate at -12 and it's still loud as fuck I had it for sale but I am probably going to hold onto it for now . These things also have a killer clean channel and way more than enough gain on tap. Sounds HUGE alone and in a W/D/W it's MASSIVE!

One thing to add, it sounds fucken unbelievable with a LP style guitar A/B'd it with some other strat style guitars and it's just not the same. Josh would probably agree too since we fucked around with it for a few mins at his house

Thanks The Metal can sound heavy, if you approach it that way but you can also get a classic rock tone as well.

Thanks. It's my favorite amp of all. It records awesome too. I usually run the gain about 3:00. Mine has an added pull gain boost for the lead channel.

The Herbert is a pretty awesome amp for heavy rhythms, just the perfect blend of articulation and sag. Latelly we've been doing some girl pop country records for Nickelodeon and my Tele in channel 2 has the best middle of the road Tele sound, I never would a thunk it but it does.

I'm blessed with a great variety of heavy amps; Herbert, Uberschall (original version), 71' Marshall 100 watt Super Tremolo with Dave Friedman 'Brown Eye' mod and a Dual Rec (2 channel). The Boogie's new so we're are just getting it on some records now but up till then it was my Herbert and Dave Friedman Marshall on 80% of all the records we've done in the past 6 months or so. They work really well together, to me I love the blend of both amps. The 71' Marshall just screams, sounds like Fair Warning' with the option to engage a deep switch which gives it a bit more of an Uber voicing but with a superior tone. Dave really crushed the mod on my amp, if I'm down or bored at work I crank it through my Uberkab and play 'Unchained', 'Somebody Get Me A Doctor' and 'Bark At The Moon' and everything just seems to fall into place.

I have a bunch of amps as well, but they are all vintage stuff. A couple nice plexis, 69 metalface, 1959RR, 68 Orange OR120, BF Fenders, my two Wizards etc. Nothing I have will handle the low range of a 7 string. The Herbert has my interest along with the SLO. Alot of the Herbert clips and vids I've found have a compressed tone. Low volumes perhaps?

How do you feel about that Orange ?
That is one of the amps I have not plugged into and wonder about that one. I am friends with Howard Leese (Heart) and he has said good things about it. Trying to get him to pull out any gear can be hard to do.

Yeah it has a certain compression to it but that's sometimes what makes it sit right in the mix when layered.

As far as the Orange I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Orange amps. I'm in my hate mode right now The Orange is cool but to me it has a strange compression to it sometimes, I think because of its midrange being really forward the compression can get honky sounding to me.
