To those that use or have used the Marshallhead's under high gain I have a question - these things are not wax potted so do they squeal? I like the openess of a non-potted pickup, but unsure how controllable they will be on a small stage near a loud high gain amp. I had a set of Seth Lover's many years ago and they squealed awful, but cleaned up with the volume control really well.

+1. There's really nothing else quite like the liveliness of non-potted pups. I have some Seths in an Explorer. So responsive !

I have a set of Marshallheads in my gold top, and they handle the loud high gain marshall beautifully.

Thanks. I've got a Fralin HO p/u on the way, but if that doesn't work I'm looking at the Marshallhead or an Aldrich for a HO p/u. If those don't work, it's back to PAF style output.

Just looking to try out a variety of brands and outputs in my LP to see what works. I like the sound of the Marshallheads in clips, but wasn't sure about feedback due to not being potted.

Even though Wolfe winds these a touch hot, I don't put them in the "high output" category... they are a touch hotter than a stock PAF and the mids are voiced closer to a EVH (Wolfgang) but not nearly as hot. Which in My opinion makes it a great "go to" pickup... it is my jack of all trades pickup.

I've never had squeal issues under gain and volume. of all the pickups in my guitars, I think the marshallhead is the best I own. it's ridiculously clear as a neck pup. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I've got one in my PRS Swamp Ash Studio and they are much quieter than any of the stock PRS pickups I have like 59/09s, etc. but don't think those are potted either.

Have a Marshallhead in the bridge position of my Les Paul with no issues either. GREAT pickup! They are not a hot pickup, very similar in output to a Burstbucker PRO.

I have a Marshallhead in the bridge of a Les Paul, with a Dr. Vintage in the neck. Those pickups sound awesome, potted or not. The Marshallhead gets that sweet Eddie Van Halen/ Billy Gibbons "sizzle"...Great pickup. Get one! :-)
