I believe my CCV was the third one built, but could be the fourth. I still follow the boards, but not as closley as I used to. I'm not sure how many CCV's have rolled off the line, but I get the impression that thier are still hold ups.
I waited a long time for this amp, by now I'm sure many have waited longer. I don't want to get into the drama or speculate on the problems. What I do want to comment on is the amp that's currently sitting in my basement on top of an orange 2x12 cab. I've owned this amp since early mid April. I probably play this amp 3-4 times a week plus band practice once a week. The amp is only cranked at band practice. I didn't get back involved w/ a band until early August. I would sporadically play w/ some other guys usually once every other week (I'm trying to show an accurate time line for how long I've owned the CCV and the paces I've put it through). The CCV has not been road tested yet. My only concern w/ this amp is durability and reliabilty. Why would I have these concerns? Structurally its built like a tank w/ great components, so why my concerns? Because this amp ROCKS! I can't imagine being w/out this amp fo a second. My drummer went to set his beer on top of it last week. Lets just say he'll never make that mistake again. When you get something that performs at this level AT ALL VOLUMES you become over protective (especially considering thier ain't that many out there). And Daddy ain't made of money so theirs no ordering another as a backup (or I would even w/ the long ass wait.)
We played a Halloween party last weekend and the CCV sounded great! I'm still on cloud 9. It's funny I've owned a shit load of great amps and after awhile the tonee eventually sound stale to me. I think your ear (my ear) just gets used to the frequency and its no longer exciting or new, therefore, I'd throw in a new OD pedal or sell the amp to try something new. This can happen w/ the best of amps. The cool thing w/ the CCV is you have the abiltiy to tweak a couple of switches and retain the core of the tone but add/ subtract- thickness, bite, sizzle. If you want to change the character of the drive channel you can do that too.
If you play great tweak the switch over the gain to the far left or keep it in the center for an old school ACDC type tone. Personally I like the setting w/ the switch to the far right. Adds a real nice saturation. Really good for my abilities (not a poor player, but not great). The stauration gives up the goods and I love the way it feels. That was the biggest gripe I had about the Splawn. It is a truly sensational amp, but I couldn't get the saturation I was looking for. Ass loads of gain, but not the saturation for my tastes. Overall I'm still very happy w/ this amp. As long as the amp remians reliable I will be a happy camper.
Mark, I know you don't usually comment on the boards so feel free to PM me. Just want to hear how your doing. I don't know what you got going on, but you got to get some of these amps out to the people. I'm not busting your balls, just love the CCV and my guess is others will too.
