Would there be phase issues if i ran my JMP-1 rig and Herb?

I've noticed the guy from Staind getting massive tones with a VH4 and JMP-1/Power amp. I'm thinking about running my JMP-1 and Strategy 500 with Herbert. Do i need any phase flip splitters? I have a 1x8 Uptown Pedal Pusher but i'm not sure if it handles phase.

If you keep your Herbert on the same channel and the JMP1 on the same channel, you can set the phase if it is out with a phase inversion, or the old fashion way, but reversing the tip/sleeve in the speaker cable of the out of phase cab. Once you start channel skipping, you will likely go out of phase, as gain stages are added to or taken away. If you are set up with MIDI, what I did was order a Y-Not from RJM. Ron will wire it so that the phase invert is programmable and you can program it with all your presets.

As a suggestion, the easiest way to get a huge sound is to take a line out of the Herbert and slave it to the other power amp with its own cab. This way, you avoid phase issues and ground hum problems.

Thanx for the advice. I've tried the Herbert through my Strategy 500 and it sounded great but not "different" enough. I'm thinking a Marshall tone would blend perfectly which is why i wanna try the JMP-1 with it. Decisions....

He built a custom phase boxes for the JMP-1. From what he told me a few of the patches on the Marshall are out of phase with Diezel channels.

I had purchased a Mesa Hi-Gain Amp Switcher so that I could possibly blend my JMP1 with my Mark V or my Herbert.

I found a way to do this along with a GCX and line mixer and using the power amp section of the Mark V or Herbert (they are both switchable fx loops). This way I don't need to use a separate power amp for them (but I do lose the stereo option going this route).

One thing I was told to be aware of is "out-of-phase" and "phase inverted" but I have never really understood the concept.

I probably would have to hear it to understand it better unless someone could provide an explanation here, thanks.

When the signal is slightly out of phase, it creates a effect that the human ear perceives as 3D sounding. It adds another layer or dimension. When the signal is 180 degree's out of phase it cancels frequency's.

In phase and 180 out of phase.
