I just posted my NGD but I was a bit annoyed with the USPS driver.

The package required a signature. That is an option for a reason, well it was raining outside and apparently the driver was going to melt or something. The doorbell rang, I work from home in the same room as my front door, I knew it was the guitar and I opened the door within 5 seconds literally. When I opened the door the driver was getting back in his vehicle, I looked over, the guitar is sitting on my front porch in the rain. I looked at the driver like wtf, he said "I signed for you" and sped off.

Well for one, how the F*&K do you sign for me? Isn't that my job? Dude left a guitar in the rain and what really bugs me is he had no intention of obtaining a signature. Due to the time it took for me to open my door and him already having one foot back in his vehicle I know for a fact the dude approached my door, laid the box down and THEN rang the doorbell and ran off.

Kind of pisses me off tbh and I have been considering filing a complaint but don't want to be a bitch about it.

Be glad you got it at all and in one piece. Your complaint will be moved to file 13.

Get over the fact your box got wet and move on.

Also noted not to do any deals with you. People that like to complain just to complain really are not anyone I want to deal with.

You can deal with whoever you want. But if there is an issue it should be addressed. This is the second time this particular driver "signed for me". Well im sorry but that is not his job it is mine. Signature required for a reason and I think they even charge for that.

And yeah, leaving a guitar in the rain regardless on a signature required. You sound like you'd be lazy like this driver. Would hate to see your packing job. Just not even sure they'd look at it like you said, whatever file 13 is.

LOL.. Great loss to the OP, I'm sure.. Do you ever get dizzy thinking that the world revolves around you?

Now, back on topic.. Ever since Covid, most of the carriers out there aren't doing "signature" even though it's requested. This has to do with the whole "pandemic" and "no contact", blah, blah. bullshit... Is it right, who knows but unfortunately this is the world we live in these days. From a customer's standpoint, or even a shipper, no it's not alright in my opinion. And yes, there are extra charges for "signature required". If I'm paying for that service, then I would expect the carrier to deliver said service. It's there for a reason, and that reason is to make sure that someone physically takes delivery/possession of the package, and to prove who it was. That being said, would I take the time to complain.. No, becaue it won't do any good.

I know wtf lol. Guy insults my ethics because he doesn't have any? Pffft.

Anyway, you're probably right about filing a complaint doing any good and that's partly why I was looking for opinions on the matter.

Regarding covid, someone else I know also mentioned that. And maybe so but where I live all covid restrictions have been lifted.

Here too, but until the CDC says we have the all clear, I can guarantee you that the Carriers will continue this practice. They get to charge for it, and not have to perform that service, all under the protection of "Covid". This means additional profits for them, not to mention that their drivers don't have to wait for someone to answer the door, get the signature and so on. Which means they get to make more stops per hour, etc.. Which all contributes to their overall bottom line. Same thing going on right now with any type of "Guaranteed Service" or "Money Back Guarantees". All waived for the time being. It's certainly frustrating, but not much we can do about it currently.

Makes sense. If that is the situation we're in today then it's definitely not worth my time making a phone call. Oh well, is what it is.

If you don’t you’ve just made it acceptable to charge for a service they have no plans to require. And if more people complain instead of accept it maybe something will be done about it. There’s nothing wrong with not accepting what they are forcing you to take.

And this my friends, is why customer service is in the shitter these days. This attitude allows for it.

My USPS driver signs for my packages all the time unless it's certified mail. Did you ever consider that your driver knew that you were right inside the door and that's why he left it? I deal with the public for a living and I believe in karma. I run into enough whiney assed people on a weekly basis that I don't want to be one of them.

There's a difference between whining and expectation of good customer service. Sounds like you've become burned out and cynical in your profession and maybe need a break.
Quite the opposite. When people bitch about everything, business's eventually quit giving a shit.
Respectfully disagree. Unless you're OK with Amazon type transacations for everything. I am not

Under normal circumstances I would agree 100% with your assessment. However, given the current climate of the shipping industry (too much volume, and not enough capacity) and the leeways allowed by the "pandemic", the ONLY thing that will make this change is for one of the big carriers to re-implement their policies on signature required and/or money back guarantees. Once one of the big boys starts putting these practices back into service, then you'll possibly start to see a shift but until then it will remain status quo.

I think this is a non issue. If you file a complaint just remember the next package might be tossed around before it gets delivered.
Is that like calling your waitress a worthless bitch and not expect to have you food spit on?

I just received a guitar Saturday via FedEx, sent signature required and I found it sitting on my front porch....

I worked retail for over 7 years and I have zero tolerance for anyone that can’t see through rose colored glasses that their package made it safe and sound and on time non the less, and will still find something to bitch about. I just ignore them - they make life suck.

But, you didn't... Twice. You should try ignoring a lil' harder.
