Wow! $150 super strat...

GuitarBilly over at HCAF just got one, and he says that it plays great.
He also said that the stock pickup wasn't the greatest, but after a pickup swap he's got a $250 guitar that sounds great and shreds with the best of 'em.

You just never know with these overseas guitars.
My cheap China strat is awesome...I'd take a chance on that if I was interested in a single hum Charvel type guitar.
Make an easy cheap project if you don't like something about it.

The guy saying "Alder Wood Body...Far better tonal quality than Basswood" made me go 'pfffff' but other than that. :D

I been eye balling them for a few months.....
Wouldnt mind doing a project paint on one....
swap out some parts.....bingo!
Nice rocking machine!

Downside is the body looks to be either 4 or 6 piece :scared:

Really thinking about grabbing a 5150 and putting in a better floyd and a SD EVH78....

Neckplate is crooked.
In China they seem to just hand guys tools and they screw/bolt things together by eye...hit and miss.
My China strat has extra screw holes under the back plate. It was put on crooked then someone tried it again and got it right.
At least someone cared enough to try it again.

I bought the hockey stick headstock version of this guitar awhile back. Definitely a project guitar. The pup was crap. Switched it out immediately with a Seymour Duncan. Not a bad guitar for the price. It just sits at my house though.

yeah... I dunno. I am thinking mandatory pickup, bridge swap and a good setup... add $400 to pricetag, oh... and a case... add $500... OH! and paint, if that's your kind of thing... So, AT LEAST another $600... I think at $750+ you are in the ballpark for something already done up the way you want it without supporting China. Hell... isn't 750ish starting to be in used Charvel territory?

maybe I'm just being picky. Maybe they are superb right out of the box.

There's no way you could have gotten something like this when I was starting in the early 80's.

The low end stuff was pretty poor back then compared to now imo.

Sorry man!
No Disrespect!
I just remember being in Jr High and those were the guitars that "were touchable"....
the rest behind the counter....Kramers....ESP....GIBSON.....HAMER....
My 1st guitar was a Squire Bullet Fender made in Japan.
Actually wasnt a bad guitar. I paid $195 for it brand new. This was in 1985 or 1984.

  No worries. They are junk but, I still have all 3. Got my first one in 1984 when they were still in business. I put an EMG 81 in one in 1987 ish if memory serves me right. All thanks to Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield. Amazing what a decent pickup will do to a junk guitar.

I had a Hondo Explorer that I picked up for $200 a year later.
It had a REAL KAHLER on it!!
And also Dimarzios.........
I was in Heaven!! :D

Lucky dog :D. Jackson's were always my dream back then. Could'nt afford one until many, many years later.

It is not great right out of the box. It will need evrything you mentioned. Bridge isn't bad. Usable and stays in tune. Definitely need a setup, neck adjustment and pickups. Paint is your call.
