I recently purchased a mint condition Jackson
Great playing guitar, once I set it up to my liking.
I noticed it was very dark sounding. I kept adjust my amps treble to compensate. When switching from neck to bridge pickup there wasn't much difference. They sounded the same. (output wise)
This one was loaded with a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck and a TB-4 (JB) in the bridge. 7.5dc/17dc output. So you'd think there would be a volume increase on the bridge.
Well, turns out someone at some point of time replaced the stock PU's with EMG's and with that changed the pots accordingly. 500k to 25k pots.
Problem is when they put these pickups in they never bothered to put the correct value pots back in.
It made the guitar sound like ass. Like the tone knob was turned down.
Goes to show, no matter how good the condition is outside things can still be fck'd up inside.
