WTB: Mesa Mark iic+

Nah not too hard to find, just hard to find one not overpriced. They pop up on ebay frequently but seems like lately all the guys selling have ones without graphic eq listed for about a grand too much. I don't care if it has eq or not, you can add one in the loop with just as good as results. My mark III actually sounds better using a boss eq in the loop than the built in g-eq, it's old...almost 30 yrs old must be something wrong with the eq or something Idk.

I wanted one for years, and was lucky to find one that was completely trashed! Not even a wood box! I got it and sent it to Mesa, so Mike B could work the amp back to it's glory. The amp was not even working when I got it, as you can see. The guys at Mesa were all amazing in terms of all the care they took of this amp. Now the amp is a beast, and put a smile on my face every time I flip the Stand By switch off!
I know it's silly, but I love buying amps that are trashed and restoring them. This one was lost at a garage for over 10 years, and instead of just been thrown in the trash, it's sitting here with me today. I've already used it to record three bands, and they loved the guitar tracks!
I'm an amp aficcionado, and I love listening to someone else record and know I've helped them to get the guitar sound!
I just wish I could afford to buy a lot of amps and build a small Guitar Amplifier Museum. It would be cool to have some cool pieces around, so kids could see the actual amp and listen to some raw sound files famous music tracks using them.
Anyway, here is the way I've got the amp. Below, how it is now. Oh, by the way, not for sale! :aww:

I bet you don't see 3 IIC+'s on ebay before Christmas....90 watt, Simulclass, GEQ. Mark II or III, I think are great with the EQ and wouldn't fly without it. Yours must have something wrong with it. If I see one decked out for $3K, I will go after it.

They've done an amazing job! The only thing they didn't do original to the amp was the tolex. It supposed to be the regular tolex, as found on the original ones, but I've asked for the leather style one. It's different from the original, but I like the way it looks now!
Ever thought about a MK-III? A good running MK-III is pretty much right there with the MK-IIc+ in terms of tone, but most time 25% of the price.When I got my 2c+ I had decided to get an MK-III, because of the price. Only reason I've got the 2c+ was because of the condition it was in, so it was priced accordingly.
The thing I've noticed with these amps is that you must send them to Mesa for a complete check up.
Few times friends bought MK-III or MK-IIb online, and when they got them, they sounded horrible. Sent them to mesa, and after very few small parts replaced, parts cleaned and a couple of tubes replaced the amps became a beast!
If you're looking for a good high gain amp, get a MK-III and sent it to Mesa. But if you're settled on the 2c+, keep trying and you'll find one that you like. They're still out there.
 
I heard the III isn't quite there though. Nothing like the IIc+
 
Trust me, the MK-III is not the same sound, but it's 95% of the 2c+, and the 2c+ is pretty much also 95 of the MK-III. A MK-III freshly serviced would pretty much do the same damage.
I even have friends who like the III better than the 2c+, after playing a few of both.
If you can, get an MK-III, get it serviced and enjoy it till you find the 2c+.
I bet you you'll want to keep both!
 
Anybody else have a MK III that they sent to Mesa? I have one that sounds good but I think it could sound better.
Sblue whats a overhual l like that cost at Mesa? I've been thinking of sending my MK III for a tune up.
 
I've asked the keep the amps, Mk2b and Mk2c+ stock, so I don't know about the mods. But give them a call. Even Mike B might be able to do the mods for you.
