Between a top of the line original Yamaha SG3000 and a good Les Paul Custom, which do you prefer and why? Which one sounds more punchy and resonant? Have any of you guys gotten to try both? I've been curious about Yamaha SG's for a while, but never got to try one, but heard good things about then and some people call them "les paul killers" supposedly, so I'm curious what you guys who've tried them think

I would look up Dave Meniketti from Y&T on his website, Facebook or Twitter. Not sure what model Yamaha he used but he did use one and still does I think and of course he used a Les Paul a lot. I`ve heard he`s really good a responding

Carlos sounded way better playing Yamaha's & Boogies that anything he does today.

I really like his older stuff. Now not so much.

Not sure it's entirely similar to the model your talking about, but Chris Poland plays or played a Yamaha SG for a lot of stuff after the early Megadeth albums and he sounds killer with it. I have never played one myself but if one is good enough for his skills, there has got to be some Truth to these being really cool. Also, I think PHil X is into these.
