Hey RT buds!

Putting myself "out there" for the first time on here (kinda intimidating tbh :D ). It was about a year ago I was jamming to this song and the tingling, weakness and aching in my left hand let me know that I needed to undergo Carpal Tunnel surgery.
It was a goal of mine to play this song and put it "out there" as a motivation for me to get back into things. I'm incredibly thankful to have undergone a successful procedure- now being able to play again, to work, to take care of my family , and to have a near normal-feeling hand.

So here it is! Not note-perfect, but whatevs, I can play again!

Rig-Talk for this track: Yamaha RGX-TT (Ty Tabor sig) into Vox Tonelab desktop (the only means I have at the moment to record silently while the kids sleep) using the JCM800 and Tubescreamer models straight into Apogee Duet interface into Logic Pro (reverb and delay plugins added)
Backing track from Guitar Techniques magazine

sounds great! Im going to ask a stupid question...Im a Mac newbie always had pc laptops. Im looking for a platform to record that's simple. Can you give a rundown of what you are using? Video/audio syncing...what do you use for the camera...stuff like that thanks in advance

I used my iPhone 4s for camera while recording direct into the rig I mentioned right underneath the video. I used the front facing camera which doesn't have as great resolution, I just wanted to make sure I was in the shot!

I then uploaded the video from the iPhone into iPhoto.
Opened up iMovie- import the video from iPhoto, import the audio file which was saved as an AAC file into iTunes from Logic Pro. Then you can align it visually and aurally just as you would within any DAW- they appear as separate "tracks." I just did a few drags of the audio clip to align with the video clip to get it right on. Then there's a simple mute button to select so you don't hear the audio from the video file if you don't want.
Pretty user friendly stuff. So cool that it all comes with your Mac and they work pretty seamlessly together.

It could've worked just as easily with using Garageband- I just wouldn't have had the powerful of delay and reverb plugins that come with Logic.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
