sounds really good. What settings do you have it on?? It has more gain than i thought it would have. Are you using it on 100w or have it dialed down??

Thanks! the amp is on 100 watts. Channels jumpered w/ both Volumes full up. Tones around 1:00 except bass around 9:00. The Power Reduction knob is at 9:00, Booster Volume and Gain are full and the Reverb is around 2:00

Sounds great. Looks like Marshall nailed it with this one.

That pedal must slam the snot out of that amp for that gain with YJM pups, sounds damn good!

You are using the new YJM Duncans right?

Yeah I want the stock one.

Yes those are the Duncans. Even my older Yngwie Strat with the Dimarzios ripped thru the YJM as well

Man that rocks! Makes me want one of both, and then some chops to go with them...well I could do w/o the chops if I just had the other two.

Seriously man nice playin' and great tone!

Fortin needs to stop modding fucking amps, I thought the stock YJM was a slam dunk but after Ralph's clips not sure.

Simple solution would be to flip an amp or guitar or two but I am not a flipper but Deluxe gear whore

IMO, if you need an amp that does metal, get and amp suited to that. Never could figure on modded amps. I had gain mods done to my Super Tremolo head in the 70's and after a few rehearsals couldn't get it out fast enough.
The YJM head is a limited piece, it's hard to move, and IMO a modded YJM will be even more difficult to move.

The clip sounded great but I would have liked to hear the modded side next to the stock YJM side.
For metal tones I'd opt for the JVM or Fortin's Bones

The MSM YJM mod still leaves all the original stock YJM circuit. I changed up the normal channel and config it so you can run it inserted into the front of the stock channel I circuit, plus the original boost circuit all in front and the noise gate functions globally now.
Cheers,
Mike

I dont have a problem with modded amps and never really understood why people did. After Ralphie explained the whole deal and mindset behind what you did to the YJM, I thought that it was cool as hell. It would be even cooler if there was a way to switch on the fly without having to pull out of one jack to plug into another... Either way, I think that it sounds fantastic. I still prefer the JVM for my uses but your mods really upped the versatility of it...

I'm only 3 minutes in, but your playing and ability to dial in cool tones makes you a huge asset to Rig Talk and definitely contribute to it's coolness factor.

Amp sounds killer!

Thanks! I think I got the new camera figured and future clips will be less tinny w/ more bottom end.

c-slice how did the landry sound compared to the yjm?

i always thought the landry clips i've heard were pretty sweet but i hear more rawness in the yjm.

Without using the built-in boost on the YJM, they're totally different amps. With the boost on (YJM) the Landry gets pretty close although it's gain is preamp driven, and the YJM's gain is from a trebly booster slamming the input. YJM more raw.

I have a demo of my old JVM where, IMO the lead sounds I was getting was remarkably similar to the YJM

sounds great!! I'm gonna have to own one of those some day
