I'm really considering trying out one of these products in my Egnater Tweaker to see how Voxy it can get on the AC tone stack. Yellow Jackets would probably be ideal but I can only find one single place that has them in stock in the whole country. The TAD ones look to be total substitutes apart from their site seems to advise against using them in cathode based power amps... And do Groove Tubes even make the Substi-tube anymore?

Anyway, what are your experiences? FWIW, the Tweaker is 6V6 currently.

I tried them in my Shiva and didn't like it. Felt a bit like switching an amp to triode mode, it lost all its punch and crispness, lame so to speak. I never thought about YJs again.

I like them .... there are several different models and you want to get one that fits your amp / amps. I like them in some amps better than others .... but isn't that true of just about everything ....

EL84 have great harmonics ..... but not a lot of bottom.
