What about the 2204? I would take that over a 2203 any day of the week.......

JVM and as an added caveat, I say get your butt down to a store with any pedals that you want to try and check them all out for yourself. There is nothing better then trying stuff for yourself

Wassup, Ralph??? Long time no see, eh?

Yeh, I should really visit one of the local shops that carries Marshalls and has quite a nice in-stock selection of them.

Wassup Brother! It has been way to long. How ya been?

Yup, The best thing you can do is go to a shop and try as many Marshalls as you can provided that they have them all hahaha! Ive done that many times before and Ive even been nuts enough to bring rack effects and pedals just to try them out :D

Hope all is well!!

I hate the vm, my least fav of the amps listed.
My fav is the 2203 but if i needed a few more tones and wanted versatility i would go for the jvm.

Everything's fine, thanks! I had the last exam for this spring yesterday and will start working next monday. :)

I'll most definitely go and test those Marshalls in the near future. As for the other parts of my rig, I think I'll sell my whole rack and just buy a boost and/or OD and a delay pedal to go with the heads (MarkIV in sight too) and make my rig a bit simpler...

I owned a JCM 800 2205 Loved it & wished I still had it. It was not all that versatile.
Had a TSL it was OK but got rid of it due to it's unreliability and tone was not quite there.
Played a JVM over the weekend and was completely sold. Every Marshall tone I loved was squeezed out of it. Old & new sounds with Modern ease. I am picking one up until I have enough cash for the CCV

Awesome to hear that all is well and try not to work to hard now lol :D

It's funny you should mention the stripping down of the rig because I just did that to my rig recently. I'm down to one amp, a chorus pedal, Boost pedal and delay pedal...Done. Works like a charm

The best Marshall is one modded by Dave Friedman

Absolutely.

Anyway to the original poster, I think you should seriously look into the Splawn amps too.

Why are yo so decided on Marshall. I believe there are better "Marshall" amps out there that aren't simply built by Marshall, and cheaper too...

Look into Ceriatone, used Splawns...

I've owned two 2203Xs, a JVM and the VM. I sold the JVM once I tired the VM. With a good boost I love the crunch the VM has. The JVM is fairly versitile but I simply didn't like it's high gain tones. The crunch tone was pretty good, but the VM is nicer IMO. As always the best thing to do is go try them. PM me for some VM settings to try. Like George said you can set the VM to sound like ass or great... I can help here. 2 things to note about the VM...1 The loop is picky. 2. Yeah it sounds ok at lower volumes but seriously turn it up. Sounds amazing once you get to 11:00 or more.

Here are a few clips.
