2 SM57s and a 906. 1 57 center cone for the attack and sizzle, 1 57 on the edge of the cap and on an angle for the grind, and the 906 center and 3" away for some smoothness.

Would like to try a Royer R-121 though someday!![]()

I've tried Sennheiser mics on guitar and hate them. The 421 was terrible, e609 also was bad. Not going down that path again.

Hey, thanks man! Switch is in the middle. Here's a pic of the setup FWIW.dwizted":6hc76hjj said:On your 906 where did you have the switch set to. I really like the sound of that clip nice tight and very crisp...Crunchity":6hc76hjj said:Sm57 + e906. Laura":jlsi0syt said:Yeah I didn't like the 906 for whatever reason and couldn't coax good tone out of the 421 to save my life. It was harsh to my ears. The 57 is cool but my clips all sound super muffled with 57's for whatever reason. Rafiq suggested the PR30 and loaned me his to try. Really digging it so far.Business":jlsi0syt said:Laura":jlsi0syt said:I just got a Heil PR30. It sounds sooo much better than any of my SM57's. I suck at making clips but at least now I don't have that muffled effect. Really pleased with the pr30 so far guitar clips.
I have owned an e906, e609 (still own), multiple sm57's, md421... Not too many but the usual suspects. I did a video clip using the pr30 and an e609 and those worked pretty well together (Fluff recommended that combo). I use an Apogee duet and my mac for audio and video clips. My mac needs updated because it can be slow when working with video.
Cool
Isn't the e609 a cheaper version of the e906 though?
I was looking at the SM57-MD421 combo myself
