Tough call, but mine would have to be my 2001 PRS Singlecut.

DSC_0165.JPG

Changed out the stock PRS #7 bridge pickup for a BareKnuckle Painkiller, replaced all the creme parts with black, and swapped the stock tailpiece for an adjustable one.

currently the last one I built is my most played...but I always end up back at my charvel seasick san dimas

That's definitely my #1 recording guitar by far. Mine's the same year also. I like your idea of changing the cream out. The bridge pup in mine is a Duncan JB. Sounds amazing.
What tuners are those?

The tuners are Gotoh part number SD90-SLB. I ordered mine from Allparts for around $50.

Some fancy stuff in here!

Dunno if I have a true #1, but if I had to grab just one that I knew I could count on for pretty much anything:

I'll be the oddball here. 1984 Carvin Ultra V that I scored on ebay for $400. Best guitar I've ever played.

How does this stack up against the Anderson's, lps, etc that you've had? They seem to be priced attractively (used, demos, etc)

Does it get into LP territory dirt wise?

Yeah, it can definitely get into LP territory. I think the Painkiller sounds similar to a Gibson 500T, but with a bit less output and more clarity. It's a very throaty, aggressive sounding axe.

Good lord

I've been gravitating toward my '91 Davies N4 over the past year. Besides the tone, I've found that I really like the increased height of the strings from the body, similar to a Les Paul and different than most super strats. I feel I can really dig in because it caters to my picking style/hand position. The quality of these early hand made Davies is top notch.

Used to be my ESP KH-2, which is still a favourite but for versatility and fun....this is most played right now:

Dang, why did I sell that one?
Glad it's getting some proper playtime in!

Definitely nothing fancy or expensive at all but the guitar I use the most is a beat to hell '04 ltd Viper 400 with EMG's... It just always feels good to play. I've got much more expensive guitars but they just sit most of the time.

I like getting great tones from cheap and obscure equipment that most people tend to ignore or scoff at. :)
