When it comes to build quality and customer service....gotta go with Suhr as my #1 pick.

1. Suhr
2. Anderson
3. Melancon
4. Tyler
5. Grosh

Can't go wrong with Suhr, TA and PRS for custom build and quality.

I choose to pick and choose Les Pauls as my main players.

ESP is the best "off the line" quality I've found in an affordable MIJ guitar - consistent, meticulous and perfect guitars. I'm always surprised how good they are, perfect really, right outta the case.

Anderson
Suhr
GMW (#1 in value)
Grosh
Charvel/Jackson Custom Shop

For relic'd vintage Fender styles, I've been impressed with all of the Nash guitars I've played...much better than similar offerings from the Fender Custom Shop IMO.

Hamer when Jol was there.
Huber
Collins
Anderson
GMW value quality

Suhr
Anderson
Tyler
PRS
Luxxtone as my 5th but I've never played one. They just look titty and everybody who has one loves it.

Don't wanna hijack the thread or anything, but I'm curious about how Music Man stacks up with the rest of these. I played a Luke recently and loved it and have had serious gas since then. (I'm new to RT, so if this is something that's frowned upon here, lemme know).

My EBMM JP6 BFR is far and away my best guitar quality wise. I love playing it.It has been my experience that EBMM guitars are some of best sounding to. The EBMM forum is overly sensitive and some folks have not had the best experience with their customer service.

Suhr
Anderson
Fender Custom Shop
Ibanez J-Custom
Caparison

Fender Custom shop? hope thats a joke. I mean, I love my Gibson Historics more then any other guitar, when you find the right one...but no way in hell Fender or Gibson Customs compare to the quality you find in a Suhr, Anderson, Melancon, etc.... Im not saying you can't find one as good, but whereas Suhr makes it 100% right every time Gibson and Fender almost always find ways to cheap out or muck something up.

I understand why PRS is named in here but once again they are not up there with true independent luthiers. Just aren't. Probably more about volume then anything else. There is a reason why John Suhr is so far back on his orders. Because he prefers to do it right 100% of the time as opposed to pumping out massive amounts of guitar.

I get the feeling people are just writing down what guitars they own as opposed to being objective ;)

Havent ever dealt with anyone else's customer service, but it's hard to imagine that anyone else could be better. A plus that he also happens to build killer guitars.

Edit: lol. This idiotic post refers to Tom Anderson.

Anderson. Never played a bad one.

Lost a back plate when doing an electronic upgrade, sent an Email to Anderson customer service to buy a new one. Tom Anderson emailed me back, asked if I needed screws, and sent me a plate and screws for a used guitar. Free.

I ordered a custom from them, got it within the timeframe stated, and it was everything I asked for.

Anderson

Spent the day there yesterday and the vibe in that shop is just flat out awesome. Everyone there wants to be there and is excited to be there. Have been a dealer in the early '00s and now am proud to be an Anderson Artist.

Others I would include would be ESP Japan, Hamer USA (at least back in the day), and Suhr (although I think he is bordering on being too big).

Anderson
Luxxtone
Suhr
Charvel Custom Shop
Tyler

Only dealt with a couple but amazing craftmanship, playability, looks and customer service!!
