Just sayin' you pretty much gotta be a real sucker to live in any state but Oklahoma, Texas, or Louisiana during Thanksgiving. Yous guys are getting hosed. I wonder if a rig talk turkey throwing contest would get any spin? Winner takes home a free 15 pounder.

About 10 years ago I was on the highway and saw a semi with a livestock trailer crammed full of turkeys. And I mean crammed. They couldn't move, they were smashed up against the sides, missing feathers and sores all over them. Never ate domestic turkey again.

I don't really sweat it but heck yeah if you can get that wild turkey that's the way to go. I keep chickens and the roosters tear the hens all to pieces as a matter of routine. I don't need to stuff 'em in a truck for it to happen. I have a large, spacious, outdoor run and ovesized coop and that's still the result. I had one get spurred and opened up right to the ribs once. Plus the hens have a pecking order and ultimately one or two birds are at the bottom and get torn up by the other hens plus the rooster. Nasty little bastards. They'll quickly cannibalize a dead bird....

I shoot my own. Nothing like fresh killed turkey.

Cost: 1 .20 gauge shell + my time.

I prefer to use 5.56mm FMJ or .308... when possible. Nothing worse then biting in to a missed lead ball and chipping a tooth at Thanksgiving dinner.

Fucking unreal. Humans are disgusting.

I came to the realization years ago that Turkey sucks, and that it was ridiculous to spend time prepping and cooking one for a special holiday with family. Now I buy two standing rib roasts, two tenderloins. Guests can have Prime rib or a filet grilled to order. Everyone enjoys the meal a lot more, and there aren’t many leftovers. Do that for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but do add a ham to the mix for Christmas

H.E.B grocer here has spiral cut hams for $25 bucks plus you get a free 12lbs turkey. Can't beat that deal.

I'm the guy who demands the turkey neck at thanksgiving, which works out great, cause nobody else wants it, lol.

Even the best turkey you ever taste won’t be as good as a mid grade steak. Just not a fan of turkey. Don’t care much for chicken either, unless it is in a dish like homage chicken pot pie or chicken and dumplings

I agree 100 percent but I try to receive my food, any food, with thanks, and so if I am served turkey or chicken, I give thanks for it.

For sure man. If someone else is serving, I’m happy with what I get, but i do all the cooking these days, and I’m thankful that no one bitches about the turkey being absent, especially the turkey! Lol
