I remember going over to my best friend's house in the 80's when I was in Jr high and watching that whole Ozzy concert on MTV one Saturday night. We were both huge Ozzy fans and were in too much awe to realize that Ozzy's vocals were obviously overdubbed :). I've since gotten that show on DVD, but it just doesn't seem to have that same magic it did when I first saw it back then.

Wasn't Gillis using a Mesa Mark III or IV in those days?

Man that solo was a snorefest

I noticed the comment in the I don't know video about the Jake E Lee correction :P

LOL! This video is hilarious. Look at how "over the top" Gillis and Blades are in this video. It makes me laugh out loud! :)

I am positive the bass play is Rudy Sarzo and not Blades.

I respect Brad Gillis, but I don't like the way he uses a trem at all and never really did.

Another with Ozzy > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoubvJJyQhk

Damn,...Ozzy had some serious processing going on with his vocal mix for the "I Don't Know" live vid. Sounds like a chorus/doubling type thing with echo -- I know he does that with his studio tracks but they're able to cop that live too. Brad's a good player but the whammy bar shit was ridiculous.

Waaaaaaaaaay too much whammy jerkin off, BUT, it was 1982. But he did rip regardless, i also have always liked his tone.

No -- That vid was Night Ranger,..definitely Blades.

No it is an OZZy video from 1982 when Gillis and Sarzo played for Ozzy. Watch the video again and read the title. It says Ozzy in CA in 1982. That is when Rudy Sarzo was playing bass for Ozzy.

Marked for later. Actuallynot marked for later. Cant get past that bar technique in that first vid. Loved his work on Speak of the Devil though.

Oh I didn't see that second video. I thought he was talking about the first video, which was Sarzo. Sorry I missed the second one.

There is a Night Ranger video also linked, and in that video it is most definitely Blades...you guys are talking about different videos!

Overdubbed the vocals after the fact
The vocals on the Speak Of The Devil live album were dubbed in as well.

So were the vocals for the main show on the Tribute album.

I remember reading in an old interview, Ozzy being asked why his vocals sound so good on Speak Of The Devil, that he said he was using this special processor live that made his voice sound much better that it really is. I used to believe that until I got the the DVD of the Ozzy/Gillis show (it was recorded on the same tour as SOTD and Ozzy's voice sounds really good on it as well). Now I just think both shows are overdubbed.
