Up for sale is this Zinky Velvet 50 tube amp with the legendary Zinky 2x12 cabinet. Unit was NOS when I acquired it last year, having been at Roxy Music since purchased direct from Bruce Zinky in the mid 2000's.

AC15 Clean circuit gets piano tones with neck P90's, Fender spank with mid cut.

Drive channel is a modified Zinky MOFO, though it gets that Naylor-esque Friedman "Naked" tone too. Closer still to Dave Grohl's signature Foo Fighter's grind. Does classic rock to Metal and in-between, simple to set and forget: just gain, volume, and tone. This is the OD tone you've had in your head. It just works! You can roll the volume back for spanky cleans and edge of breakup sounds. It's based off a modified '59 Bassman circuit. Very few drive channels vibe like this one in my experience.

Master sounds good at all volumes, and you can use both channels for clean or dirty that way too. This is one of those amps that delivers at bedroom AND gig levels; the master will keep you AND your soundman happy. Runing the master dimed adds treble and openness.

Convertible 2x12 is made by V-Boutique. It's the 2x12 Cube, OEM'd for Bruce's spec with the superior 2-panel design / removable top. Cab is stuffed with polyfil and sounds like a Bogner OS despite its size as a result. Bogner's cab is a V-Boutique Euro for reference. Bruce started stuffing all his cabs after we went back and forth over my OG Mofo 2x12 sounding too boxy in the early 2000's. It was so dramatic that it's a no-brainer: stuff small cabs for big sound.

The Zinky Eminence 8 ohm 12" speakers are wired in 16 ohms series and have just broken-in. Eminence speakers take about 100 hours to open up, and these are right around that mark. They have a vocal midrange and enhanced overdrive tones, with complex cleans. Zinky's design principle:

We go for the most natural, acoustic sound possible. The clean sound, straight off the strings of the solidbody electric guitar is what we want to hear from the speaker. We use vintage guitars for testing amps and speakers, and we’ve gone through many good vintage speakers in establishing a baseline. We experimented a long time before getting the 12” speakers we use today. They’re very custom, but similar to other Eminence products.

There's a reason Keith Richards gigs 'em! Only other speaker that vibes as much as OG Mesa V30's (to me) but with their own thing going on.

I love this amp and am not in any hurry to sell it. I will part the head/cab. Feel free to reach out if you have questions / are an enthusiast. Cheers!

$1,800 shipped.
