How I keep my Einstein w/KT88s cool

Hi all,

As well all know, running the KT88 or 6550s in Diezel amps tends to generate a ton of heat at the right bias point. I learned this recently after retubing my Einstein with a set of KT88s. At first, I biased them to 80ma a pair, but found that the amp lost all of its musicality (it sounded very sterile and I was unhappy with it). After increasing the bias to 50ma per pair, it sounds much, much better, however it generates a ton of heat. The back panel would get very hot to the touch.

Well, i came up with my own solution to the heat. This is a very cheap USB-powered fan that you can find on Amazon for like $20. It uses a small clip to attach to anything. The fan is relatively quiet and best of all, it actually works quite well. I'm not sure how long I'll keep the KT88s in the Einstein...will probably go back to KT77s...but it definitely sounds killer, and I'm happy with the solution for the heat.
