I have been using Dean Markley strings for many years. mostly because they make a gauge set I prefer that most manufacturers don't.

11-52.

I go back and forth between the "nickel steel electrics" and the "blue steel" sets. This past year while swapping back and forth I have come to realize that I don't like either set much so I went looking for new strings.

Not much out there matches my gauges preference but it turns out they (DM) now make a few sets I hadn't heard about in my gauge so I ordered a few different types:

Pure Nickel Jimi Hendrix

I've always wanted to try pure nickel but couldn't find my gauges.

George Lynch Super V strings

the description seems pretty cool, more sustain and output due to more magnetism secondary to iron in the string.

Helix HD strings

a new offering from them that has an elliptical wrap wire. this allows for more wrap in the same area, more mass overall and less friction on the hands.

I am wondering if anyone has used any of these and what to expect, while I'm waiting for my web order to arrive.

Cool, looking forward to a review. I have been using Elixir Nanowebs just because I hate changing strings, but after a while they start to shed the coating.

Hmm those helix strings look promising going to try some out

Big Dean Markley fan here, although I've never liked the blue steels. The Signature Nickel Steel strings are my string of choice. I'm guessing that's one of the sets you're using? I use 9-42 and 10-46, couldn't tell you about their heavier gauges. Those Lynch and hendrix strings sound interesting....gonna have to try!

They do look pretty promising, the amount of hyperbole and unicorn horn used in the copy for the marketing is deplorable though.

"helix elliptical hyper string levitational transport dna system rebirth donut mass magic"

If it were not for the pictures i don't think i would even understand what the string is and how it is different.

for those of you still wondering the core wrap is elliptical instead of round. by standing the wrap wire on its skinny side more wraps can occupy the same length resulting in more mass.

the tightly wound elliptical surface is suppose to reduce friction also.

They claim brighter, longer lasting, and fuller sounding and that it is the best string they have ever made.

here are some snips from a namm video on youtube:

Cool. been on blue steels for about 15 years straight. Although after reading Dallas Marlow's review I decided to pick up a pack of Mangans. Havent put them on yet though. Ill deffinatley try these new DM sets. I tried a Nuno set from DM back in Nov. They seem exactly like the reg DMs. Might have just been a custom gage set.

I tried the Helix HD strings last night.

I think they sound better than the blue steels I was using, the low end seemed tighter to me all night.

I noticed no difference in the texture feel of the string but the feel of the strings when playing and bending is different. seemed a little tighter without going up in gauge.

I really like them so far. now well see if the longer life claims are true.

still have to try the Hendrix and Lynch sets I have.
