I am thinking of picking up a Weber Bias Rite. The BR-4 octal model. I have a dual bias probe now, but it doesn't measure plate voltage, which is many times hard to measure without removing the chassis.

How do you guys like your Bias rite's?

I have one and love it.

My only regret was that I didnt order it with the 90 degree inserts....which now you have to pay extra for an adapter. Without the 90 degree inserts, you have to always pull an amp from the chassis.

You can get the 90 degree inserts right on the bias rite? I am not seeing that option, I thought you had to get those extra. I was planning to get 2 of those right angle adapters.

Ill chime in on the compubias.. really cool ..

mine broke he shipped a new one. BTW it took a couple years before something happened.

I have both and they are both great but the Compubias is really the better unit. Much easier and more accurate.

I have to pull the chassis on my JCM800 anyway to get to the bias adjustment...

Are the sockets a lower height on the compu bias (for octal) compared to the Weber Bias rite? If they are just a little bit lower than I wouldn't need the right angle adapters from Weber.

they are about the same size as a socket save. If you go look at antique electronics for tubes and tube accessories you will see one. I think a little smaller than biasright

I use the Bias-Rite BR4 and it works great!! Been using it regularly for a few years and hasn't let me down yet

got the eurotubes bias probe. Works great, and it's shorter than the weber so I don't have to remove the chasis.

+1 for the Weber, Best investment I made for my amps, been using it for a few years now, saved a packet on tech fees :)

the real reason to get one of these units is not whether or not you need to remove chassis, it's because you don't want to put yourself in harms way every time. So, yeah I've had a BR-4 for about 6 years and love it.

Funny, I'm getting ready to purchase a bias-unit soon.

Anyone compare the Bias Rite to the Amp-head Bias Tester?

(with the Amp-Head, you must use your own Multimeter, but I'm told that it gives a more accurate reading. True?)

Again...guys I have both the Bias Rite and the Compubias. I haven't used the Bias Rite sice I received the Compubias. It is way more accurate and easier. It is absolutely no contest. The Weber is a great unit, but I own both, and haven't touched it since the Compubias arrived.

It can't get any easier than this....

Voltage, Idle Current, and Watts right on the screen for both tubes immediately. No switching required. Note that the sockets used here are the nine pin sockets, the octal sockets are much smaller, the same size of the Weber sockets.

Just ordered the compu-bias. Thanks for all the respones. I may order some right angle adapters from Weber later.

Good choice. Again, there is nothing wrong with the Weber unit, but this thing is really at another level. GOOD LUCK!!!

Got the Compu-Bias in. Works great. This thing is going to come in very handy. Much easier to use than my old probes.
