Hey gang,
So I got a pair of Presonus Eris 3.5s and am currently using them as my computer speakers connected through the 1/8' audio input on my computer tower. I wanted to add a subwoofer, but I don't know if I need an audio interface to act as a go-between to accomplish this. I'm currently using this computer to make electronic music; no external instrument recording. I wouldn't mind adding an audio interface in order to have a correct setup, but if I can get away with not having one, it wouldn't bother me.
So my main questions are:
1 - Can I connect a sub directly to the monitors without an audio interface?
2 - If not, and I need to get an audio interface, what would you recommend in the $150 price range?
3 - Depending on the scenario, what additional cables do I need? XLR? 1/4"? XLR to 1/4"? etc.
