I don't play acoustic that often but I was thinking i would like to try a nice nylon string. I have a Taylor 814 ce which is a smoking acoustic but trying to lay down a lead on a steel-string acoustic just doesn't work for me.
THoughts on a good one without breaking the bank ?

I feel the same way. My fingers can't cut it so I've avoided playing a super-cheap acoustic I've had since I was about 10.

Is it just the bending that is a problem with steel string and if so, is it primarily the wound G?

I play acoustic a bit and when I started learning Django Reinhardt material I decided to just do 'half bends' when necessary (eg -G-string). Those Gypsy swing guys do all sorts of bends and they are steel string players. I use 12s on my acoustic and with those the high E and B are bendable but any other full step bend is too much. Acoustics are a slightly different animal so I don't bend or hold bends the same way anyway.

There is also the ankle-weight aspect of it too. I like that it is a workout for the left-hand.
