Dave, thanks for keeping me honest man. I had previously tweaked the pickup height but apparently just not enough. I was able to spend a little more time tweaking and found the sweet spot for my ears. Sounds every bit as nasty as my cali now with some extra pickup options, killer guitar!

I have the classic plus in the bridge, and a classic in the neck. I likey, I think DF's "snarly, ballsy" description is good. Snarly in the bridge for sure, also, played through a clean channel, it doesn't sound harsh. The neck classic sounds great clean. I guess a reference for a pickup is playing clean, even though I won't use it that way too often.
