Friedman Phil X - More Open/Raw?

Hey folks, posted a similar thread on the main board, but posting here for further insight.

I have a 2015 JJ, and I just haven't bonded with it yet. I'm looking for something a little more raw with less compression and focus. The JJ seems to have a focus in the upper mids that I can't dial out, and makes the amp thin out quite a bit, but maybe mine has an issue.

Has anyone owned or had extensive experience with the Friedman Phil X?

I've been interested in them for a while, but don't seem to hear much about them. I'm a set it and forget it type of guy. I dial in one tone and go, so I don't need cleans, and I don't need many options.

I'm a thrash metal guy, and most of my favorite tones are based off of Modded 800 circuits. How does the Phil X do in this regard? Is it more open and raw than most of the Friedman offerings?

I've had both. X is more raw, modded Marshall sounding.

Here's a clip I made a while back when I had one...You can hear the rhythm track sin't super compressed....
