Help - effects loop in my Friedman JJ Jr not working

Hi folks,

I just purchased a Friedman JJ Jr and I'm trying to hookup an MXR Carbon Copy delay in the loop. I'm using new George L cables. When I hook up the pedal in the amp's effect loop, you start to hear some ground noise and there is no sound coming out of the amp from the guitar. As soon as I disconnect the pedal from the effects loop, the ground noise goes away and you can hear the guitar perfectly.

Any advise that you can give me as to what this could be will be greatly appreciated.

Have you done the normal trouble shooting stuff?
Replace each of the cables (yes even NEW ONES) one at a time.
Try a different Pedal?

If the amp works the loop works because the amp runes through the loop circuitry at all times.. Cables, power supply or pedal.. Or you have it plugged in backwords
