This is a 2013 RedPlate CDS2 that was sent back to Keith at RedPlate last year to perform a modification to make the amp sound more Marshall-like than the traditional CDS2.
He was super excited how the amp turned out, and he did an amazing job.
Here's what he had to say about the amp -

"Because of the changes to the circuit, the amp will sound much more Marshall like than it did as a regular CDS2, but it certainly has its own character. It is really its own little hot rodded monster that rocks and sounds fantastic. Enjoy!"

Here is what was done to the amp:

- Change the phase inverter so that it feeds the power section a bit more like a Marshall
- Change the power transformer to a Mercury Magnetics transformer
- Change the power tubes to EL34s (from 6L6) so it sounds like a Marshall. EL34s offer better crunch but more mids and a more “neutral” tone compared to 6L6s that have a scooped tone in the mids...lots of low end and highs. The clean has more mids but still sounds great and similar to the Magica and Blackline amps.
- Change the overdrive circuit to be a bit more like Marshall with some different pots, resistors and caps

The amp is now fixed bias (which means adjustable) instead of cathode bias because it sounds better with the EL34 tubes. There is another humbucker switch on the back of the amp for the first tube. When looking at the back, the left position is single coil, middle is humbucker and to the right is "fat" for more low end. The overdrive channel now has pull pots for drive and level. Pulling out drive shifts the overdrive to upper mids to sound more Marshall like, leaving the drive pushed in favors low mids which lets the amp sound Marshall like, but a bit more SuperBass like, think Kossoff and the Allmans. Pulling the level knob out will round off the top end so as to really get into that rounder Allman's sound.
