Well heres the deal.

I have the PI-Modern. Id like to step up to the wos or the torpedo live.
Im gonna use it just for home use, so recording and practice.

Whats the better option, a unbiased one please :D

I guess that with the live i could use my Herberts master section right?
with the WOS its just the preamp section.

Thanks in advanced.

It's really up to you, depending on your workflow...if you never take the amp out to gig maybe the PI will be fine for you. There would be a couple of tricks you could do with the Live (keeping your PIModern).

You could either run the speaker out via Torpedo to DAW and also run the preamp out to the DAW with PIModern instanciated and/or you could use the spdif out on the Live (at either 48kHz or 96kHz) to DAW, the left channel is dry (no speaker emulation) so you could use the PIModern on the dry input and combine it with the right side with the Live's parameters. Of course, once in the DAW, you can pan, eq, add effects and mix to your heart's desire.

The Herbert is an amp where most of the tone comes from the pre-amp or let me rephrase, where the volume setting of the power amp is less critical...than say a more vintage staged amp...like a Marshall or ie a Badcat but I'd still say the Live's output would sound the best.

Live does not have the VARIPHI and OVERLOAD controls.

;)

Id might just upgrade the Modern to the Full WOS

Im not in a band anymore so its just me playing at home.

Im planning on doing a view songs soon and im looking what to use.
Micing is not an option, i live in an appartment so int TWO-Notes :D

BTW: real amp with impulses..........no need for modeling or digital amps etc. (it works perfect for me)
