seems I spent a few hours this morning playing through the vb-101 with a 4ohm speaker output!!!

Is there much risk of damage?? - everything seems ok.....

I wouldn't think so. It is just like running an 8 ohm cab in a 4 ohm outlet. See any smoke? :D
 
Well, if everything seems OK, there are good chances that everything is actually OK.

And I am an expert. ;)

Seriously, there is not that much risk having the 4 or 16 Ohms output plugged to an 8 Ohms load. Things are not 0 or 1's with tube amps.
