Thank you!!! I really appreciate the nice words and of course, nothing makes me happier than finding out that the cabs we created are inspiring people's productions. In addition to stating that this particular cabinet has something few if any others have in the tone department, the signal path from mic to the Torpedo Capture software is actually super clean and simple.
Lately, I've been using an Audient ID44 which has just an amazing price to performance ratio. This unit was acquired prior to the Sono launch so this isn't a Torpedo pitch from a salesguy angle. I sold some DDA consoles back in the 90's and these boxes share the same DNA. The quality of a AD/DA converter and interface goes way beyond what is on a spec sheet. The path on this capture is mic-->ID44-->DAW, nothing else.... obviously, great mics were used and super high quality cable (mogami AES ooops gave up a secret, ok so so called digital audio cables really make great mic cables).
Here's another trick for those of you with the latest firmware in their Cab or Live, or WOS the Studio or CAB M. One can use 2 different mics on the same cab and blend them.... So, select Dyn57 on one, Dyn57Tilt on the other, set the placements to be identical and voila, Fredman Technique
