Hey Dave,
wondered what your thoughts were on the gcx switcher. ie: sonically, build quality, grounding issues, reliability etc..
is the RJM effects gizmo really $400 better? taking into consideration you can find a GCX for $300-$350 and (just looked) the RJM goes for $699.
thanks

Well the gcx is good. Generally needs a buffer upgrade. The rjm has 12 loops a good buffer and a click stopper circuit.. But the gcx gets great results. Depends on what you need.

I use one primarily to phantom power the Ground Control. I don't send any audio (instrument level) signal through mine because of the piss poor audio quality, buffers, and isolation. However, for loop and line level signal control, it works flawlessly. Basically, I have one loop active for the Intellifex in the amp FX loop and sometimes channel select control. I don't find the RJM much better. But, their gear is readily available and can be upgraded if needed.

I find the Bradshaw gear to be the top of the line for audio loop control. But, Bob's an ass, stole my $750 deposit for a custom switcher, as people do in this business. So, standing on principal, I sold my 4x4 and RS10. Now, I have to tolerate the lesser quality gear.

Different rigs have different attributes though. Depends on amp/outboard gear.

you might contact Bob again, I think he's in a better place now days.
not to minimize or excuse anything, but believe he was going through some difficult times there for awhile.
I don't know him to be a thief.

Bob's a hard cat to track down - my personal experience.

I'm eyeballing a switching system - so this info of the GCX versus the RJM is good stuff for me.

Is it Rooster and TT at foot, or 'rack 'em all and let MIDI sort 'em out'??

rhodes has got some great footswitch goodies designed and ready to go, and more in the secret design chambers

What sort of cost would this run to and can I get my local tech to do this (I'm in the UK)?

My buddy got a bradshaw system recently. sent him the pedals etc. and got it all back in a nice working fashion. i believe the only issue was a week longer than expected and one minor issue which he fixed but i think it was a lil miscommunicatino, my buddy never complained. not sure how or why a gcx or rjm sound so bad when so many sell, it's a great way to go if you don't have a ton of $$$ but you still have to invest into cables, I made my own for the gcx and it works great, only downer to a rack rig is more shit to carry around, like a bigger road case.

Ive always been a fan of the RJM stuff, like it more than the GCX. My 2 cents.
