Cheers from Finland!

I am a very happy Diezel user since 2005 and have VH4 and Herbert in house. I am going to pick-up a VH4S on the coming weekend and can't remember when was the last time I was so excited about new guitar gear. But I must have been out of the markets for a while as I had not even realized that VH4S seems to be a discontinued model. When did that happen? And what was the reason for that? Low/limited demand in comparison to high costs perhaps?

I am definitely going for the amp, but just really curious on the info. Thanks for the input.

Brought the amp home and based on serial number it is made in 2010 so at least then these amps were still available. This comes with the assumption that VH4S follows the same serial number logic as VH4 and the first two digits are the manufacturing year.

And I really love the amp! So much fun with those crazy Eventide stereo effects. It took maybe 10 seconds to dial in the amp on all channels and start rocking. It will be very difficult to decide which amp to sell - Not the VH4S though.

I have VH4S (2011) and a Herbert MKI. I love them. How do you think the VH4S compares to the VH4?

Very similar. I have different tubes in my VH4 (2005) so the tone is slightly different based on that, but I would say that with identical tubes and bias there should be hardly any difference. However, if I am not mistaken there was at some point of time some minor changes made to VH4 in terms of gain and amount of compression which can have an impact here as my VH4 is from 2005 and VH4S from 2010. I remember this change is also discussed here in Rig-Talk...will try to search it. The overall feel and basic characteristics is exactly the same. VH4S may contain a tad less headroom, but that will never be an issue for me it is still really really loud and clear. In terms of connectivity and flexibility, the VH4S is one of the most (if not the most) diverse tube amp I have used.

That is great news for the "stereo-heads"! I just could not see it listed anywhere either on your website or at any store.
