Bought a Torpedo Live and it sounds Incredible. Question

Love it so far. Sounds Great through headphones from Torpedo
The challenge is when i connect it to my Focusrite 2i2 USB audio interface.
I am using a 1/4 inch line from Torpedo to the Focusrite line in.
The 2i2 doesn't have spdif input. I have to crank the gain and volume all the way up to get an ok sound.
Then it routes into Ableton Live lite 10(getting Ableton Standard shortly but that shouldn't matter)
The signal is very low in Ableton. Any thoughts? I am considering buying an audio interface with better preamp?
Any recommended audio interfaces or preamps? Thank you in advance. Dan

I use a (TNL out) trs to xlr Male
Usually, don't need too much on the gain using the 18i20 or now the Clarett

not sure if that trs > xlr makes a difference? A regular guitar type cable might be knocking the signal down?

Thank you, I have been tweaking it a bunch and it's sounds really good now. buying some ownhammer IR's tonight
I am very new to the terminology and techniques of sound like this.
I may get a better usb audio interface at some point though with better preamp.

Hi Scanman39,

if you push the input gain and the output level to optimal values on the Live, meaning high enough so you never clip either the input or output, whatever you play, you should not need a lot of gain on the Audio Interface. Using a TRS jack connector (Tip Ring Sleeve, can carry either a balanced or stereo signal, balanced in our case) between the Live and the soundcard will provide the best performance, and your interface preamp won't matter too much.
