Ever run 3 speakers in a 4x12 for a ported 3x12?

Been thinking about it, as my 50 watt amp's OT is 5.6K @ 8 ohms. Would be about 3.7K @ 5.3 ohms, using three 16 ohm V30's. I detune to C# and my standard size frontload 4x12 is a wee bit small for that, so I wonder if a front "port" would add some give, and the lower impedance allow for a bit more power from my amp.

Thoughts?

A highly doubt a 12 inch hole is "tuned" for optional metal tones you might as well go open back at that point

I ran a splawn 2x12 with only one speaker and it sounded good.
Easiest way to find out would be to do it and try if you like the way it sounds....even if others did it and didn't like the sound doesn't mean that you won't.

That would be “detuned”.

Prob not the best way to try it.

Smarter is to make a brand new cabinet back. Can use existing as template. Tolex is simple on the square edged back.

Measure cabinet internals and use an online port calculator to calculate hole size and tube length for a specific frequency.

I did this with a guitar 2x12 and made it a SICK bass cabinet.
