Mojo tone cabs

I saw Phil Mcknight video pop up in my feed today where he was talking about mojotone cabs. Have any of you guys used them? They are sorta local to me(N.C. anyway) and I typically buy components for tinkering with amp builds from them but I never considered them for cabs. Im planning on grabbing another 2x12 in 2020 and Im leaning towards another KSR or Splawn but maybe trying an Avatar. I was thinking maybe this might be another company to put on my maybe list.

I had them build me a 4x12. It was alright, but they used thinner ply than I was expecting, not that it sounded bad, I didn't really dig it. On the plus side since they used thinner ply, it was light.

Thinner than Orange or thinner than Marshall/Mesa?

I like mine loaded with a pair of nice Webers (Ted era). The ply on mine is thinner than normal, but I am not sure tbh.

I snagged my loaded one for $200.lol. I am not sure I would pay the price for one new tbh.

Splawn builds really nice cabs IMO.

Double post, sorry...

I would take Splawn over avatar. I like my avatar, but I would go Splawn or something over one.

I thought Orange were pretty thick? Seems like the 2x12 I had was.

I'm skeptical about anything YouTube guys push. They were all pushing Harley Benton cabs and now I see tons of people saying how great they are on Facebook. I look at cabs as I do a piece of furniture. You can get a couch cheap but you will probably end up having to replace it a lot sooner. I see people willing to take any cab if it has a v30 in it not knowing that the build means about as much as the speaker

I actually have Brad's old Mojotone that he didn't like. Compared to his Bogner, it not as tight and to me.8ts breathe a little more and has a little more give to it. It feels like an older 70s Marshal cab that I used to own. You can hear it in the following links

Hey, was that the cab I wanted to buy from you at the ampfest? The one with the special brace you put in it?

Yes, Brad made a larger brace (2x4 vs 2x2) for it and gave it to me with the cab. I later installed it and added a screw in the center of the baffle into the brace.

I had two Marshall Style Mojo 4x12s and liked them. I did have to screw the back onto the middle beam to stop it from rattling (I only had that problem while playing 7 string), but they sounded perfect after that. I used them with V30s, H30s, 70th Anny, and 65 watters and thought the cabs sounded good in all cases.

I got a Marshall-style 4x12 from them in July and put WGS Invaders in it. I probably put 30-40 hours of break-in time on those speakers and, well, it still doesn't sound as good as my real Marshall 1960A cab with G12H-30s. I needed the higher wattage of the WGS Invaders and the one in my DSL40C sounds awesome. I just can't tell if the issue is the cab or if the speakers need more break-in time. I can't describe the difference in sound, but it's just not doing it for me. Might throw in some well-broken-in Creambacks and V30s I have that I know sound awesome in another cab.

Thinner than all those mentioned. If memory serves I think I measured it at 13mm.

Again not that it sounded bad, I just like a solid tight cab. I loaned it to a few local musicians for bigger shows, they loved it, and Ultimately Scott bought it, and he loves it. I think he even sold his Bogner cab after.

I do love it, but I love my Weber 4x12 better, but it could be the Weber speakers. I do tend to prefer a woody and bouncy tone over a tight and focused tone

i had one of the 1960 copies. its just that. a 1960a copy with upgraded hardware and a solid wood back panel. I remember it sounded a little tighter to me that a real 1960a, but not a HUGE difference. Good if you like that style of 4x12.
