I agree with Randall's marketing being kind of stupid lol... it's sort of like highend pcs/gaming pc's with all the blinky lights and robotech looking cases. Priced for adults but designed for teens who can't afford them. As for the Satan name, not a big deal to me, i'd be more irritated with people thinking i'm an Ola fan boy.

I don’t care that my iPad is Chinese, but I don’t want Chinese guitar gear. Just my preference.

Amp company announces new amp release.

Forum member shares info.

Most members find something to bitch about, be it the name or where it is made in.

Amp fades to black.

The end.

As unsuccessfully as the 120W fullsize Satan was... I'm shocked that they went ahead and release the 50W model. There are still decent deals to be had on the 120W if you shop around.

In this case, I really wouldn't worry about the MIC factoid... I've opened up the amp and it is really well built. The pots/jacks are chassis mounted and connected with flying leads to the pcbs... metal stand-off supports for the pcbs connecting to the chassis... solid welded chassis, no bent/open ends... and the OT & PT are MASSIVE. The 120W weighs over 60 lbs and is super quiet for the amount of gain.

I dig Mike's amps, and I have owned several. But I can't get past this silly name. I'm not going to have an amp in my house with a "Satan" nameplate on it. It might as well say "Cunt" on it.

C'mon, Mike, I don't want to rationalize this kind of shit to my kids looking at my gear.

Agree, same reason I don't own the Pink Taco, Dirty Shirley, Brown Eye, etc.

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't released a Cocksucker 50, or Dildo Drive. Maybe even a Jizzmaster 120.

Randall is supposed to release some low-watt combos, as well. They were actually polling Facebookers for name suggestions.

A stereo rig of a Cocksucker 50 boosted with a Prostate Tickler & Jizzmaster 120 boosted by a Dildo Drive would kill it. Don’t forget to get the amp cover for the Cocksucker 50, the Cock Sheath

Heard one live (100w) and for metal, it was fantastic.

+100

The elementary school names are flat-out stoopid. Pun intended.

Just stick to something safe and generic... or descriptive of the tone.

I don't think too many of us want to explain to our kids or significant other why the name of your amp sounds like a dirty joke. Poor form.

Ola wanted it called the Satan. It's a metal amp. Who cares? Naming an amp after a butthole is pretty stupid, I agree, but if you have a problem with the word Satan and listen to metal? I don't even know what to say to you truly.

I agree. I'd love to own this amp, but there'd always be an unnerving feeling with "Satan" being on the faceplate.

The name is flat out stupid, but you can buy a Sharpie for $.25 and buy the amp.
Simple solution.

This is the truth.any black magic marker will fix the name..I guess the way I see it is ..If I don't like the amp/product don't buy it"..somebody else will..not going to ruin my day.

I'd say that Randall's marketing team intended for the amp's name to ruffle a few feathers. It generates discussion, which eventually translates to a rise in sales.

The last thing they want is a bland name that no one will talk about, particularly on a guitar Internet forum like this. Shallow tactic yes, but...

You guys are too much. It's the signature amp of a metal dude, why is it a surprise he'd call it the Satan? TBH I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner! If you like the tone but have issue with the name, then put some gaffa tape over it or some shit, man. Why is it such a big deal?

I'd say that Randall's marketing team intended for the amp's name to ruffle a few feathers. It generates discussion, which eventually translates to a rise in sales.

The last thing they want is a bland name that no one will talk about, particularly on a guitar Internet forum like this. Shallow tactic yes, but...

When the last time the Randall execs got together to go over quarterly revenue reports and exclaimed "Awesome job! We're really rolling now!"

Counter-point: Randall's sales don't seem to rise.

Also, Mesa and Diezel amps have some of the most "bland" names for some of the most acclaimed amps.

Everyone who's bitch about bland amp names I'd like to hear some ideas for amp names. Product names aren't the easiest to come up with.

This is an area where Engl often shines.
Raw/Metal sounding names, without sounding too offensive.
Savage, Invader, Powerball, Fireball, Screamer, Thunder...

I don't think naming the amp "Satan" is remotely as tacky as the trucker girls on the Peavey XXX (which is also a worse name, IMO) faceplate were.

Having owned a Thrasher 120 for 4+ years and trying the 2 amps (Satan/Thrasher) next to each other I would probably opt for a Thrasher 50 at a discounted price which I do hunt for from time to time (kind of want another 5153 50 watt lol can't decide). The amps are very similar except for the parametric sweep option. I love my Thrasher but truthfully these amps unfortunately have poor resale value. So if you get one it might be best to consider that you are keeping it or lose your ass in a resale. I did try to sell my Thrasher once but the lack of interest swayed me away from that idea and for me it is a good thing as I still love my Thrasher. I'm not giving the amp away. It's staying like it or not lol.....which I do like it....

Jeez, it’s too early. My first thought was, why did you put a Peavey faceplate on a Randall Satan?

Yeah. While they were anti-satan themed, I still think Stryper sang about the devil or satan in a lot of their songs. lol
