So I saw yesterday that Mick from Slipknot is an Omega endorsee now and used the Iridium and Obsidian on the new album. Does anyone here have any time with one of these amps or cabs? They sound impressive from clips but that's as far as it goes. Just curious if anyone here has actually played one.

Never heard of them until just now. I always liked his Rivera sig but could never find one for a decent price. I wonder if the Obsidian is similar.

I haven’t played one personally, but I’ve heard a couple of clips I thought were impressive.

Pretty sure they're either based off of Kyle Rhodes' circuit or he was involved in the design.

They’re not based off any Rhodes amps and sound nothing like any Rhodes. From what I understand, Kyle Rhodes assembles the amps, but they’re not his design. It makes sense since they’re both in the Midwest area

My friend has an Obsidian and a bunch of the Omega cabs. I thought it was good, but preferred my amps and some of his others too when we compared em all. It reminded me a bit of the Fryette UL. It was dry sounding, so it may appeal to guys who like that kinda amp, but for my taste it wasn’t raw or organic enough (it sounded filtered like most modern amps tend to be) and didn’t have that viscous, hairy growl that most of my amps have

I have heard some killer clips. Wish I caught them at NAMM. If they are like the UltraLead then they’d be up my alley for sure.

These amps look pretty cool. I’m interested!

Yeah if its based off a UL i'm definitely interested. Makes sense that Mick would like them as well.

It’s not based on the UL. It just had certain characteristic that reminded of that amp like it’s dryness and the texture to its notes

Yeah I didn't mean to say "based on" the UL but more along the lines that if it shares the same characteristics I would be intrigued.
