His video above of the SLO reminds me of what I didn't like... for a guy who is such a pro he has shit audio. I remember telling him that (in nicer words) and he didn't like it because his ears are golden. He needs to learn how to place a mic because dead on isn't the only place to put them nor is jammed up to the grill. So yeah as I had eluded to, he can be a prick and he is def. not an authority. He might be good for listening to amps though, that's fine. Just go watch his vids and don't bother posting.

Yep it sounds like straight in front of the dust cap, if he offset it some it'd lose a lot of the high end fizz and shrill.

That's the #1 Reason i can't watch his clips. I've watched a Few "Pickup" Demos which were recorded with an IPhone capturing the Room tone & i greatly prefer those. Less shrill & Fizzy.

The shrill and fizz of his clips wreck it for me TBH.

And him showing off his skill with a bunch of palm muting? Lol. I guess he knows how to use a pick. I wonder about his left hand technique. Lol

I find myself slightly intrigued by the pickup demos he does but that's it. I'm not even in the same ball park in terms of Money that the guy has, to be able to buy any of the stuff he owns. The only nice thing i can say is that his Custom ESP Horizon 6 String is AMAZING!!

I guess it all just depends on what you're used to doing. Cell phone vids or "in the room" demos, I don't find all that helpful. Hardwood floors vs carpet, the size of the room...it all effects the reflections and I have no idea what I'm actually listening to. If you're used to playing live with in-ears or have done any studio work/home recording...you likely know what a 57 on the dust cap of a V30 sounds like. Factoring that in, I find that with a close mic'd recording I can WAY more easily gauge what an amp sounds like than I can with an iPhone sitting off to the side of someone's cabinet. Sure, Reza's videos are kind of bright....but pop those tones into a mix and they're likely perfect. When I listen to his videos, I just assume that I'd lo-pass them a little in the track and be pretty much ready to go. For me at least, his videos are way more honest/helpful when shopping than something that's been EQ'd to death.

But, I'm admittedly an idiot.

He's got a lot of nice amplifiers. Unfortunately, he cranks the preamp to the point where it's impossible to get an idea of what they actually sound like.

You see quite a few good clips on a regular basis here. Personally I am not massively into recording, I enjoy playing more, and playing with other musicians.

TBH I will likely do more clips whenever I end up getting a Two notes product, because for me that $500 captor X fills my needs better than $500 worth of microphones that don't even get you very far into the wormhole of mics.

He is the classic case of the fat kid and the ice cream cone.
Nah nah you cant have it....

He seeks approval and forces it. He lacked confidence and acceptance in his youth, so now he is in control.

His YT and FB page for advanced gear...its not for people alike to gather, rather it is him showing people HIS toys.

Believe me or dont. He is a basic profile that is very common.
Nothing ever wrong with having issues, its when you dont confront them and resolve them.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend people!!

Did sound good. The pop ups of
‘Told ya so’ seemed kinda childish.
But one of his better vids. Wish I saw some bare feet though.

Same. I'm new here and don't know the full story, but he sure did piss a lot of people off. Besides this is far more entertaining that any TV drama I've seen.

I agree though, it would be nice to hear more clips, so here's a quick one of my VH4. First is close mic'd, second is just room mic. I think the latter sounds awful but it's there for those that don't like the close mic'd sound.

https://clyp.it/lcoa3kqj?token=0bdca6eee4859c436f4c9cc94d634abe

https://clyp.it/xkyqbm2c?token=1b9bf7c56c1ba60e892e9294d3631468

It's hard enough to record a tone that is self-satisfactory, let alone knowing what everyone else wants to hear! So some will like it (maybe), some will hate it (definitely). Recorded tone is even more subjective than in-person tone

My Youtube channel is in my signature, mostly iPhone recordings. You're more than welcome to A/B them to Reza's "Pro recorded and mic'd" clips.

Also I am not a Reza hater, I thought he was nice and helpful when I dealt with him. I am just not a fan of his clips and recording technique.

I have no personal beef with him, but I really don't like people who have those character traits and attitudes. He acts like a kid in jr. high. The constant meltdowns on every forum, the attention seeking, and the childish attitude he has. He behaves like a 13 year old rich spoiled kid. I don't like people like that.

TBH I am not a fan of his clips. They do not catch the tone that I see and hear from those amps. Maybe my ear is different but they don't sound good to me. Very few.

Agree...i enjoyed the tones also. That C+ is nasty for sure.
I was so disappointed in the mark V 35 i got last year.
Even the touch response was horrible.

If mesa reissued this C+ property, id be all over it.

For someone who left this specific forum, Reza sure knows a lot about what goes on here. Did his latest video have something to prove to the world or just Rig-talk?

The guy has made tons of videos with interesting gear and has gathered a large following on YT. Manages to get amp builders to send him products to demo. He's put in the time for sure. Can't knock him for that.

He is a freak though with his collection of pics of girls feet and weird threads on fetish sites. Searching for lesi vids, a reply popped up about the womens feet and it was him. I had to research lol
To each their own I guess.

I don't know him, so can't really comment on that, but a person having weird fetishes, as long as it doesn't involve anyone else getting hurt against their will, doesn't really qualifies as evidence for them automatically being lesser human beings or a bad person in any possible way whatsoever in my book.

Stalking other people, or at least doing a serious effort to stick ones nose into their private matters, to find smut on them so they can expose them on public forums does though.

To each their own indeed!

The usual, you know, a green baseball cap, a black leather vest, a short purple velvet skirt, red nylon stockings, brown suede slippers, and nothing else.

What did you have for breakfast?

I agree. I don't follow Reza at all and barely know the history, but his demos are good. Cellphone clips tell nothing at all about the amp. It's like trying to observe a painting by looking at a black & white photograph of it, through a greasy kaleidoscope.

Totally agree. His clip is good, but there are much better out there, including posted here recently. That being said, it’s still much better than mine, of which there are none.
I honestly think that when Reza was here, he was an asset to the forum. He was very snarky, overly opinionated, and extremely thin skinned, but he was a good contributor of clips, knowledge, and gear sales. I got into it with him a few times, but nothing major, so I don’t harbor any animosity toward him. I thought the racial attacks on him before he left were despicable, and there was no reason to go there....
I am by no means defending his spoiled brat persona, editing/removing negative comments, going barefoot in videos :bleh:, or any other douchebaggish behavior mentioned here. You get what you give, and he’s getting it. I personally think all this shit is hilarious, especially him posting our comments on his video. I laughed my balls off when I saw my comment on there!  So Reza, if you’re out there reading this, like we know you are, you stalking, barefooted weirdo, keep on keeping on, and I hope to see more of my comments on Reza’s Hater Highlight Reel!!!”

+1. I'm listening on Beyer DT990 Pro cans and the highs are quite strident to my ears.
Very recently someone else did a few 2C+ clips that were really good and not as bright.

HAHA. no. I was obviously being facetious. But his whole thread is funny. The video does sound good though.

I've talked about this a few times here, and in defense of Reza and because i understand him, i will say it again.

Reza and I had a relationship. He hid it from his family in fear of being shunned and i get it. But we had a special bond. Good friends and lovers as well. He knew that his family would not approve of him and I having a sexual relationship and he turned on me due to it.

He abruptly ended it and unfortunately it spilled out on a thread here some years back. Ive had animosity towards him and mostly because of that. He's an alright guy, mostly misunderstood.

Reza is still here on the forum and i miss you and really do cherish the time we had. I am sorry.

Stalking other people, or at least doing a serious effort to stick ones nose into their private matters, to find smut on them so they can expose them on public forums does though.

To each their own indeed!

Being a libertarian, I have to say you nailed it, bro'.

Doesn't matter what party side your on, this is truth.

Indeed, bro'.

I felt compelled to say it 'though 'cause it's the core of the libertarian philosophy. The degree to which it's watered down increases the further left you go.

Anyway, just to remain on-topic:
My favourite outfit is high heels and leopard-pattern stockings, leopard-pattern skirt (super-short) & leopard-pattern bra. Slutty makes me feel good.

While this clip might sound good on it's own, I would definitely have make it cut more in a mix. It's just too smooth and pretty in the high mids and treble frequencies. That's just the thing. Almost all good rock guitar tones that work in a mix, sound thin and bright if you isolate them.

While that may be true, that's not how our buddy Reza is presenting things; with the whole caveat of 'if you don't like the brightness of my clips, remember I pre-mix them to sit better in a full band mix'.
Otherwise he should've done what guys like Ola and Pete Thorn do; play some dry stuff, amp only and then have a whole band-mix surround the same guitar tone.

What he most likely tried to do, IMO, was the following:
-create a sort of be-all-end-all 2C++ clip that shows his superior tweaking/playing/recording skills, in a way to shush all nay-sayers and haters.

What he actually did (still IMO ;) ) was the following:
-create a fairly good, but quite shrill sounding clip, replete with unnecessary & petty attempts to 'showcase' the 'haters'; but in doing so, he was showcasing his own inability to grow emotionally, or rise above the opinions on a forum that he -at least on paper- is no longer a member of, so why care at all?
0 negative comments on the video makes me think he deleted some and he's basically a self fulfilling 'prophecy' in the works...you know, by re-doing those exact things that the 'haters' were accusing him of in the first place.
Oh well... :loco:

I can't comment on Reza as a person. I wasn't here when things went down, and I don't follow him at all :) So I don't know if he does something to his clips or not. The C+ clip sounds pretty raw to me, complete with dust cap sizzle and too much low end due to proximity effect. It would need some basic low and high pass filter, which is like the first thing you do when mixing. That's why I don't think anything has really been done.

His personal antics etc, I'll leave that to somebody else. I'll comment on the quality of his clips, but nothing more. I'm too old and tired for internet drama :D
