What does a worn suspension do to the tone? I had a 12S and it was not like you describe; it was looser than a 12L. It did have the awesome fuller mids but I got rid of it ‘cause it had virtually no attack.

The ones with the legs are the H series and they are a little bigger (length/width) than a standard passive pickup (SD, Dimarzio. etc.). In some guitars they will pop right in, in other guitars you will need to sand or route the guitar. The soap bars are way bigger than a standard passive.

Might want to check out the Jensen Tornado Stealth, there’s a 65 and a 100 watt version. I used to have the 100, interesting, good unique tone. Definitely doesn’t sound like a V30 though.

Seems like they were going for some stadium symphony orchestra type of sound on S.I.T. and Seventh Son, great albums but I never understood that mixing choice when they had already nailed such an awesome mix and guitar tone all the way back on NOTB.
